I think the problem with any RPG based around any period with guns is that most people will expect FPS style effort where the bullets path is determined by them, not by the character's skill. I think Vampires: Bloodlines did it well where the gun wobble and overall accuracy where affected by the skill level, but it was still disturbing to be seeing a typical FPS style screen with no accuracy whatsoever since i never upped my gun skill. Made some of the late gunfights rather interesting :(. Even going by the 3rd person path it would still come down to the accuracy being affected rather than the damage done to make it anywhere near realistic, but alot of people will rage out if their character keeps missing shots even at close range.

Not an impossible task mind you but not one I'd envy the developer doing in a way that pleased everybody and worked within the game.

Thought I should point out that I've never played a gun based RPG except Vampires: Bloodlines. So if you know of one where they got the balance right then let me know and ignore this post.

Native American Mythology

Is there even one? Would be extremely interessting (if done right, ofc) to play one.
Fantasy is slowly getting on my nerves because it's always so similiar setting wise, n stuff.

I've hardly ever seem a good non-jrpg steampunk RPG, but I'm not the best at looking for things anyway. I want that either way.

Skies of Arcadia is a JRPG about pirates, if that works.
Pirates are NOT Japanese. And i meant pirates of the Caribbean not space/sky pirates.
Play Pirates of the Caribbean Online then.
...im going to pretend that you didnt just recommend I play that piece of crap. Besides, I want to have battles, real batles at sea, and a good combat mechanic for swashbuckling and zombies and treasure and stuff and things that make a good game even better! Sort of like a third person action but....Bethesda should make it. They did good by pirates in oblivion.

yeah, Pirates of the Carribean was cool, its game clone was not. I want a cool pirate game. One that doesn't make me want to walk a plank.

Appropriate analogy.

Pirates have some, they are underused, but they actually have some. I have never seen a game based on Native American legends, just bozos ripping off and then mutilating little pieces of it (the Wendigo is in no way a werewolf or even wolf-like).

I think age of exploration/colonialism would be great because it could tap into all sorts of fictional genres of the time. Edgar Rice Burroughs, Jules Verne, H. Rider Haggard, King Kong's skull island, The Phantom's Africa, King Solomon's Mines and Alan Quartermain, a whole wealth of potentialities to be explored and unlocked by the player.

I don't know about setting, however I would like to see at least one good steampunk RPG. (If there are good ones that I may have simply missed please enlighten me.)
Arcanum (PC) is the obvious one, its showing its age now but its still a solid western RPG
Skies of arcadia (GC) is a decent seampunk jrpg not as overtly steampunk but still decent, down side is you need a Wii or gamecube for it.
I gotta say I don't know if you can call Acarnum 'solid'. Don't get me wrong, i've sunk many, many hours into that game and enjoyed it immensely. The setting is great, the writing good. But in terms of combat mechanics, balance, stability, graphics... i would *love* to see a remake.

Golden Age of Pirates, but only if all historical accuracy is ignored, and supernatural powers, ships and beasties abound. Come to think of it I vaguely remember hearing about a One Piece RPG.

Outside of poll I'd like to see an RPG loosely based in Feudal Japan or China perhaps (for some reason my brother loves the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series). Can't say much for their honor or hygiene but they had some amazing-looking armor and weapons in that era that they probably can't even make anymore.

I like the idea of looking at primal societies (not primal like you're think primal meaning "the first"). Tribal systems etc. Not much has been done with those, they could even set it in a prehistoric era.
