I know that this topic has probably been done before but do you believe in Valentines day?
I personally can't stand the fake, pathetic excuse for a so called holiday (too many negatives)

I hate it just because I believe the human race deserves nothing besides a radioactive grave filled with cement. No reasonto treat them with 'love'. But that's just me.

Well, on one hand, it's materialistic and such..

But on the other hand it's a great opportunity to show your significant or potential significant other some romantic attention which they'll hopefully appreciate. If not, well, that's life, I guess.

A gaming website is probably not going to be the place to find any romantics, but yeah, I don't believe in it. Just another day that we're supposed to buy junk.

Its not actually a holiday thought is it? I mean, no where in the world do you get the day off work and school because its Valentines day.

Personally, I feel it is quite an unnecessary day, that makes me feel sick to the stomach; but that could be because I am bitter and single ;)

yeah that could have something to do with it but my own personal opinion is that it's truely a pathetic excuse for a holiday, then again I also have never had a relationship last that long .

I less hate it and more just get annoyed by it as there are times where all that stereotypical valentines shit is inescapable. Actually I barely notice it and completely forget about it when it comes around...just like every other "special" day. It's just another day in my life.

Valentines day does not exist, all incidences of valentines day have been scientifically proven to be hoaxes.

This. And while one shouldn't need an excuse to do something romantic for one's significant other, it is nice having a set holiday for going all out. An excuse, if you will. There's something nicely ritualistic to it, and I don't care if it's a fake holiday. If it bothered me, I have the option of not partaking.

Because we (including me) are world weary, bitter and lonley. I think it is a gaudy event unless if I get a card from someone:) and so far, that hasnt happened, so my ideas haven't changed.

I don't think I can remember ever having a good Valentine's Day. Most years I've been single and had to stand and watch all of the couples around me. The one time one of my relationships actually coincided with the day my then-girlfriend's mother made her stay home and do housework. That day was a snowday and the whole day was free. We could have spent the entire day together. It could have been perfect.

So, why does everyone sound so bitter, Erana? No one has any happy memories of the day.

Because we are all quite bitter. Probably because most of us are men with social problems who therefore can't get attention from women, and are too immature to be reminded of it by an institutionalized holiday celebrating sex.

I count myself as one of the perpetually lonely, but I'm not bitter about Valentine's Day anymore. It's the quietest night to go to the bar, and as you're driving home, you can cackle immaturely, realizing that in all the houses around you, folk be doin' it.

Ha ha, doin' it. I love Valentine's Day.

Oh, I love the day. Not only do I get the joy of making someone happy (yes, I really do enjoy making others happy), I also get a full day to go off with my significant other and do whatever.

That, and it's the day after my birthday.
