I think Uncharted 2 deserved it. As long as Left 4 Dead or Assassin's Creed didn't win, I don't really care. Both are sequels that really didn't push any boundaries at all.
Uncharted 2 wasn't so great as a game, from a pure gameplay standpoint, but as an involving, exciting entertainment experience it has no equal. The hotel sequence is a work of brilliant art.

There is no point in discussing who won or if it was a fair because it was all just a big poll. The game that people liked the most won, that's it. If they had handled it similarly to most other award shows (which I know has been done previous years) there would actually be some weight behind the award. Now it just points to how many fans a game has, which becomes pretty evident just by looking at forum topics. But that's fine too, as long as people take it for what it is, so please people! This is not the Oscars of gaming! Stop pretending like it is
I'd have to say assassins creed should have tken it, although I automatically disliked uncharted before I played it because it's a platform exclusive.
I'm glad it wasn't MW2 or L4D2. I didn't play ACII or Uncharted, but I loved Arkham Assylum. I would have picked Arkham Assylum.
Im not sure that argument is correct. Technically by those standards MW2 should have won because it was easily the best selling game of the year. I remember my roomate complaining the day it came out cause there was nobody online playing Uncharted 2.Littaly said:
I agree that they got it right from the choices. Uncharted 2 was the best of those games, however i think that Dragon Age really should have won game of the year. At least it won best PC game, rightfully so. And I have to agree that Rocksteady winning game studio was the right choice as they were the first developer to make a truly great comic book hero game, even it if wasn't the best game this year.
The voting process must be broken because how can a game (Batman) be nominated for GOTY when other games beat it in it's own genre. I love the game and everything but I just don't get it, logically...

and understand that what you see happening here isn't an isolated incident, that the game is filled to the brim with sequences like this. Also note that with the exception of a few very brief non-interactive moments, you are in complete control the whole time. It lets you actually take part in all the awesome shit that is usually confined to cutscenes.
