Does it matter, it's just one giant sized poll. Uncharted 2 had the most fans so it won. There was no jury involved, no experts who dissected the game, it was a popularity contest and Uncharted won.
Not saying Uncharted 2 is bad, I played it an liked it. I'm just saying that you shouldn't put so much weight behind the Spike VGA, they say just about as much as a daily poll on GameFAQs...
The VGAs are terrible. It's just one giant advertisement, where celebrities, singers, and game developers come to showcase what they made.[/quote]
I'm glad we agree on that. Still, you seem to miss the main point of what infuriates me with the Spike VGA.
There is no point in discussing who won or if it was a fair because it was all just a big poll. The game that people liked the most won, that's it. If they had handled it similarly to most other award shows (which I know has been done previous years) there would actually be some weight behind the award. Now it just points to how many fans a game has, which becomes pretty evident just by looking at forum topics. But that's fine too, as long as people take it for what it is, so please people! This is not the Oscars of gaming! Stop pretending like it is
