Poll: Vice City VS. San Andreas

I just recently bought the GTA Classics pack off Steam, it included GTA 1, 2, 3, Vice City and San Andreas. I beat VC and went on to start SA and I LOVED VC, but I'm "meh" at best as far as SA goes. Does anyone share this opinion? Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the lone hero Tommy Vercetti taking over everything to CJ who is the butt of most of the jokes and has partners on just about every damn mission that you have to watch, drag along, wait for and count on to kill people while you drive.

San Andreas was my favorite GTA by far, mainly because it has an actual story. I mean, I get that the main pull of GTA is to kill stuff, blow stuff up, and just basically break every law known to man. Yet, SA let you do all that and still fit in a legit story. Plus, I loved CJ, it was nice to play a character with a personality... and who could talk

There's just more options in San Andreas. You still can't swim in either, but the addition of things like your own gang, and car customization (to an extent) makes GTA SA one hell of a game.

Honestly? I prefer San Andreas.
Probably because I played that before Vice City.

San Andreas, easily. More weapons, more missions, bigger city (CitIES I should say), better graphics, and a much much MUCH better lock on system. Oh yeah, and they finally got around to letting people swim.

VC has the most amazing soundtrack and is realy atmospheric, it really gives you a feeling of the time its set in.

but for just pure fun, SA is by far the best. and CJ is still a good character tbh

if I were to really weigh out all the good and bad points of both, I would be here for hours, both brilliant games though

Personally, I prefer Vice City.

While San Andreas had much more to do, it never had the charm that Vice City had.

Also, Vice City was much more colourful, had brilliant missions, and starred Ray Liotta.

Yeah, I preferred Vice City. San Andreas was good, but I certainly enjoyed Vice City much more.

SA is better then VC, it is way bigger and more stuff was gotten right, but GTA IV stomps all of the other GTAs to the ground, I can hardly think of anything that that game tried to do that it didn't deliver on, at least on an average level.

Vice City. Best music, best setting, best main character.

I think San Andreas had TOO much stuff in it and i didn't like the setting, the main character or the whole 'gangsta' vibe of the game.

Vice City had Ray Liotta and Dennis Hopper. Therefor Vice City is better! Also it had a kickass soundtrack and I loved the silly 80's look of it.

Hm...this is a tough one. I've beaten both of them in the last year (nostalgia..you cruel temptress), and I have to say I enjoyed both a lot. One major advantage of SA was that you COULD ACTUALLY FUCKIN' SWIM! Other than that, though, I'd say they're just as good.

San Andreas for sure, it was massive and had a good story, hell i was actually thinking of the casino mission this morning as it was that brilliant.

Even though I prefer Italian mobsters to rap culture in media, San Andreas was surely the game I enjoyed the most. It has so many options you hardly know where to begin! And since I could choose my own radio station and the story was actually pretty Ok once you'd gotten out of "the hood" I could certainly enjoy it. Even though I really did have a hard time believing that a gang-banger that tilts his gun (eliminating the point of having sights) was the best choice for top secret government operations.

SA was just too big and confusing where as vice city was perfect size wise. also CJ was a dick bag and had nothing going for him at all. also, LANCE VANCE! coolest side kick in any game ever.
