Hello, Escapists.

I've asked the members of Bioware to refer me to places where I can acquire graphs and charts with information on Mass Effect sales and polls concerning its popularity across specific gamer sales. Now I'm here before you with a simple question, with two simple answers.

Which Warcraft game did you like more? Not just which did you play more or necessarily spend more on, but which game had the bigger impression on you? Which one got you into other Blizzard games and such? Or would it have been before? I'll come back with a couple more polls, until I can find other places to acquire more official numbers on these games and others. I'm compiling a report of sorts on what I can put together, seeing where games correlate to certain gamer groups.

It is important that all who are participating should have actually played both games enough to make educated decisions on them. I want a lot of people to vote, as this is the best way to validate the weight of my report.

P.S.---If anyone knows of places where I can find detailed graphs and charts on games, I would appreciate it.

Warcraft III is what I truely believe Warcraft should be. WoW isn't bad, but RTS is where Warcraft is in its element. Customization was the best part about it before it was a Muh-Mor-Peh-Guh.

agreed.

I've been playing since Orcs & Humans. Warcraft has always, in my mind, been an RTS game. WoW isn't bad, I own it, played it for a month or two. Then stopped cause I didn't want to pay another 15 bucks to grind some more for some lazy NPC.

Finished WC3 and TFT campaigns at least 4 times on Normal and 2 times on Hard. I have 3 lvl 70 chars and a few more over 50. I'd say I'm qualified to make an educated estimate.

WC3 by a landslide in this poll. It is simply a better game. It's arguably one of the best RTS games ever made. I've enjoyed WoW and it is the biggest MMO ever, but if I had to pick one of these two games to be preserved for posterity, it would be WC3. Better story, better gameplay, more innovations (at least to me), etc.

Warcraft 3 is fun even longer then WoW. Now that's quite something for a RTS vs a Mumorpegeh.

I voted Warcraft 3 because I still play it now - but I prefer the frozen throne because of the improved gameplay

I enjoyed WoW more, but I'm not really into RTS games, I'm into Blizzard games. I spent more time, money and gain more wait while playing WoW.

The part of W3 that I enjoyed more was the story and cinematics, actually, cinematics is what made me finish the single player part. For multi player I play Starcraft.

Without Wc3 and the rich story behind it (I'm a lore jockey) I would of never started WoW, seeing the ghostly fleet of sailors that Arthas doomed was one of the biggest lore-gasm moments ever.

For me, I voted Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. The story really drew me in and added a layer of involvement with everything I was doing gameplay-wise. It seemed a little unoriginal at first, but all the little twists and turns made it something very creative and comelling in its own way. And the balance still amazes me. Aside from Age of Empires, this is one of those bird's eye-view RTS's that seem very active and vibrant in what it does.

One small question:

World of Warcraft [Expansions included] VS Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
Why did you include WoW's expansions but didn't include the WC3 expansion in the poll options?

Yeah, I know, I'm nitpicking... ;)

You haven't seen the site were Arthas found frostmourne have you?

Anyway, I think that if blizz had taken the Gameplay style of War2 and married it to the Narrative and storyline of War3 you'd have a fantastic game. As it is War3 feels like it doesn't have armies clashing, instead you've got small groups beating the tar out of each other. I know most people prefer the smaller groupings to play in tactical scale, but I prefer massive armies clashing and beating the living snot out of one another. I guess I'll be a Starcraft geek forever more.

WC3 by far. I still play it weekly. Can't say I've played WoW for more than 6 months, and only because I made my own fun with my cousins.

Warcraft III is a masterwork of its genre, as is World of Warcraft. I know both are excellently-crafted experiences, but frankly I am just not a fan of the MMO, or most multiplayer at all for that matter. I think Warcraft III might be a better-honed sort of game, as well, if only because its smaller size allows for more precision and control on the part of the developers.

Yeah that was nostalgic, and awesome at the same time to see the story in a different perspective. Personally I like the Frostmourne cave part more!

I think EQ is the masterwork of its genre, and I think anyone who's actually played EQ will agree. There are real emotions evoked when you start talking to somebody about EQ who has played EQ. Can't say the same thing about WoW =\. Just because lots of people play it doesn't mean it's a masterwork. If that were the case, we could say the same thing about tons of games that, frankly, aren't anything more than average.

Bah...I quit WoW and they finally start using back stories and lore again. Bugger.
