I'm going to say no, simply because some things are better left as they were, incredibly enjoyable at the time.
The crystal maze is another example. It should remain in the realms of nostalgia where it is untarnished. With Robot Wars you can stick on a repeat on Dave and enjoy the show, as you get taken back to when you were 10 years old watching it at 6 pm on a Friday night with the family.
A new series would never be as good as you'll always be comparing it to the originals which still hold a place in the happy memories section of the brain.
Which is why the Crystal Maze failed, without Richard O'Brien, despite being the same show, it lost the awesome factor and so it bombed.
An entirely new re-vamp with a different spin could work and could become successful. The premise would still be fighting with robots, but it would have to become a show in its own right, not just "Robot Wars + 10".
Family Fortunes is the best example I can think of off the top of my head. With a re-vamp we lost interest in seeing just regular families go on the show, it had been done before. So they make it All Star Family Fortunes and it becomes a different show with its own host.
