Im gonna say werewolves personally while I like darkness I also like going to places that are open during the day. That and some werewolves are written as immortal in the no aging sense so then you get the cool bonus vampires get but can still open a window without fear of painful death.

Additionally, people saying "were" to mean assorted halfhuman things pisses me off. "Were" is the "man" part of "wolfman". You see men around all the time.

And, why werewolves? Why not were armadillos?

Also, female werewolves should be "wifwolves", surely?

And, why not wifarmadillos?
Yes. I said "were" because they are half man and half "insert mammal here". Weremadillos, Werelynx and Weredolphins are all possibilities. I simply say mammal because it has to stop somewhere. If you stop at the top (Kingdom), then there's nothing stopping me from writing about Werebees, Werepirannahs and Werefalcons. If you stop at Class it keeps it (semi) reasonable.
And about the monsters v. actual animals transformation... let the furries have their fun. They're not hurting anyone... yet. Gene splicing and manipulation might make that a real problem in about 150 years, though.

Human, thank you. If vampires of werewolves were more survivable as a species, they would dominate. They don't. We win :)
Or if they were real if all the literature wasn't written by humans ;)

I'm going to have to cast my lot in with the lycans, here. For a variety of reasons, really. I like vampires, I really do. But, first off, I love the wilds. Forests, tundra, plains, being away from civilization. Primal, rough, capable. These things appeal to me. And on top of that, if I were legitimately given the opportunity to become *insert list of characteristics mentioned in first post here* you have no idea how excited I'd be.
Seriously. It'd be like Christmas, Halloween, and my Birthday all rolled into one.
Hmm... we should make a new mythical variation of humans that has to do with cats. Vampires = bats, werewolves = wolves. ? = cats.

Catgirls.

Also, you know what did vampires right recently? The Fright Night remake. I know it's a remake, thank you, but goddamn it was good to see them actually get some time off from loving fat girls and sparkling like some homophobe's nightmare.

Bring on the Fangs Baby!!!

Gotta be a Vamp myself but I prefer the idea of Shan's version of Vampires,

Don't have to kill to drink blood,
Can Flit (Travel at superfast speeds)
Can enter any Place,
Can turn humans into Half Vampires
Can climb almost anything
Greatly increased Strength and Stamina
Are not Immortal but live up to 10 Times longer than humans

I think a Werewolf in the giant humanoid wolf form would completely decimate a Vampire in a one on one fight.

Though if each side was given time to prepare, a Vampire. Never really heard of a stupid vampire before.

Hmmmm, well, going by the rules established by the OP, it's a tough choice (and that includes the staying human option too). But, as my name and avatar quite clearly point out, I'm a fan of wolves, so I'd have to go with being a werewolf.

I don't want to be restricted to only being outside at night either, or having to feed. Especially considering how bad blood tastes (I had a really bad nosebleed once as a kid and swallowed a good glob of the stuff. Never forgot how bad it tasted.)

That, plus Vampires have always come off as the super sophisticated, aristocratic species, where the werewolves have always been the more primal, in tune with nature, "lower class" types. I think I'd just fit in more with the werewolves.

Vampires:
. . .
They're weakness is DIRECT light (artificial is fine)
You mean a vampire could get killed with a flashlight? That's super lame.
Sorry, Direct SUNLIGHT i excepected that would just be assumed. Artificial light (a flashlight) will do nothing that it wouldn't do normally.

Werewolf for me. Sorry but I don't want to be killed easily by having a simple sun ray on me.

I have to pick werewolf, I really like food and vampires don't eat food so I wouldn't like being a vampire.
Who said Vampires couldn't eat? (i certainly didn't) It wouldn't be neccesary ansd it would make them feel uncomftorbale but... They can still do it.

Werewolf. Sounds more... useful. Rather turn into a wolf than a bat and the canine atributes rule. Kiba from Naruto popped into my head.
How do you see those canine attributes, I'm wondering?

OT: Were-Wolf. I've always been at home with dogs and such, and I wouldn't have to prey on people. Also, I'd be able to go outside in the day.

Werewolf.
I'd hate not being able to go out in the sun, ever.

And being a fleshy bag of food for everything else is stupid.

Werewolf. So much more BA.

I would like to point out, however, that you're opposed to vamps from twilight, then you post a pic of a scantily-clad, large-breasted, female vampire instead.

Hypocrite much?
Sorry, All i could find at the time.
