Real Ale. Proper British stuff with flavour and character, not that brown washing-up water the Yankees call beer.
Yes I AM prematurely middle-aged, thank you for asking.

Also Perry.
See this is what we are all thinking in the back of our heads by instinct, even if it's not what we said.

I love my ales, but I pity anyone who hasn't managed to find a good lager or pilsner, especially with the increasing quality of beer these days. The micro-brewing industry just keeps getting better and better and I can find something I like in any category of beer, whereas five to ten years ago there were styles of beer I wouldn't even consider.

Well, I voted beer but what I really mean is Ales and Guinness, which aren't strictly beer but close enough and they get you very, very, very drunk.
Ale is beer. Guiness is a stout, which is beer.

What made you think "ale" and "Guinness" weren't 'strictly beer'?
Because beer, draught, lager and ale are all technically different things. They all come under the umbrella term beer, but they all have different brewing techniques and other boring stuff.

Like how a Nightwing comic isn't the same thing as a Batman comic, but they're all from the same 'family' as it were.

Which alcohol do you prefer drinking in general? I prefer vodka. It tatses like shit but I hate the PROCESS of drinking, but the effect is awesome.
Rum. ^^ I like the taste (sort of), I like that it settles my stomach (instead of upsetting it, like other alcohol), and I LOVE it in pina coladas. ^^

Of the spirits, vodka during most of the year (although if I can afford a bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin, I'll be having that), in the bitterest of winter I may switch to a decent scotch or brandy on the grounds of them being more warming.

Of the rest I'll take a medium or blonde ale, preferably Ringwood Fourtyniner or Badger's Fursty Feret. Ruby ales I'll accept though I generally only drink them in winter. Dark ales, stouts and porters I just don't drink (can't really stand 'em) except the traditional Guinness on St. Paddy's and when the English rugby team beats Ireland. Lagers meanwhile, I'll drink Kronenburg on a hot summer's day or when it's the only thing availible (Grolsch works as well). The rest just doesn't count as beer in my eyes.

Wine I only drink either at a family meal or with a young lady.

...ANd that was one hell of a lot more information than this thread called for...

I am a beer drinker. Though I will not snuff all of the above. Especially vodka, rum, and wine. The only question I have is... Where are my Yuengling brethren on this site?

used to enjoy the fuck out of whiskey

then one night drank it like water...

NEVER AGAIN.

so vodka and the occasional fruity drink (fuck off, i don't care if they aren't manly, they taste amazing.)
Yeah I feel ya there... only I played several rounds of King's Cup with cheap ass whiskey. Two things went through my mind that night as I was huddled over a waste basket for 8 hours straight, 1) I have never been in so much pain in my life, and 2) I'm never drinking again.

For me nothing beats a frosty pint of Magner's Irish Cider with a few cubes of ice. Tastes like apple juice freshly squeezed from the teat of Gabrielle.

...I'll just say "other."

I was considering choosing "wine," but the only kinds of wine I like are dessert wines (icewine, Muscat, Tokay, etc). I hate dry wines.

I also like various girly and fruity drinks, and of course gin and tonic. Also certain alcohol-food combinations, like bourbon with pumpkin pie.

I rarely drink, but when the occasion permits, I prefer a good rum.
Hell, I like cooking with rum when I have it.

I've been recommended to try Scotch as well, but from what I've been told, you want to go with quality Scotch or none at all.

haha it was pretty awful later on, the toilet was the most comforting thing i had ever felt that night. when i did puke, i didn't even have enough time to breathe, it came out of me using every last cubic bit of space in my throat/mouth, i basically filled the damn toilet up.

which like i said in another post, i army crawled out of the bathroom and found my backpack, with all its books and shit in it, it was the most comfortable thing i had slept on in months.

suprisingly i didn't wake up hungover or anything at all, at most i had some stinky farts and that was it.

I do prefer beer; most lagers are good, some bitters and I don't mind the odd pint of guinness.
Though I have become fond of vodka esp. with fresh orange juice.
As for real ales, I like Bombardier, Old Speckled Hen and Doom Bar. Try them if you ever get the chance. :>
