Poll: What character archetype are you?

I've always thought that what a player routinely chooses as their character class reflects on their personality type.

I have always played a "Paladin" type character whenever the opportunity is presented.

In my eyes a "Paladin" is a Heavy armor wearing, sword-and-board knight with light healing abilities and a focus of protecting their teammates.

I like the idea of having all the monsters attacking me, keeping everyone else concentrating on DPS without distraction. I find it immensely rewarding.

What is your character archetype?
What does it mean to you?
Which game best represents your view of what that class should entail?

I seesaw between barbarian and rogue.

Depends on the mechanics of the game.

Barbarian/Warrior
I tend to just run in, start swinging and ultimately hope for the best. Perhaps the most basic class but it is my overall favourite, the havoc that is wrought is super satisfying.

For me, there's a special thrill that comes from stealthing about and silently taking people out.

Unfortunately, I'm terrible at stealth, but when it works, it's extremely fun.

Loving the fighter/warrior/guardsmen types. For some reason being loud, boisterous and very aggressive comes naturally to me when RPing. And in real life.

I usually go for the healing-type classes first and foremost, especially if it's a game that a bunch of my buddies play and they're every other class BUT the healer. Otherwise, I like the ranger class for attacking.

Mage of course! I don't want to get my hands dirty if I don't have to and I like my enemies charred or frozen! As a mage I obviously have a keen sense of fashion and style with my robe/hat/cape/orwhatevertheymakemageswear so everyone can behold my glory while perishing before the words I shall utter softly that summon great and terrible things to bite knaw and make uncomfortable!

Mage and ranger mostly.
I might try something new once in a while, you can only cast spells and kite enemies for so long before it gets a tad boring.

I'm going to pick other.
Because if they're available I pick engineers or artificers, I'm an analytical trap man you see.
Though in most games the closest thing is a rogue so I really end up playing them the most.

I tend to play Rogues in RPGs because I like the idea of bringing your enemy down through finesse and subterfuge.

Anything but straight up melee fighter, I find that role extremely boring to play as since it's usually very limited as far as interaction with environment and other people goes. And the fighting in itself isn't that interesting, either, most of the times.
I usually go for either rogue or sorcerer.

Tankin' and buffin'. That's what I like to do. I typically roll a Paladin or another tanky/support type character.

I vary between Paladin and Healer.

Im not very "competitive" and aint much of a glory seeker (popularity and praise actually bothers me big time), so prefer to support my friends/allies in their own endeavours and help how i can. This would be the basis of my inclination towards healer.

Add in a penchant for heavy armor and being decent in a fight irl (by virtue of actually having been in fights where my life was at stake, so i reckon i can take on most people who havent had an experience of a "proper" street fight in all its ugliness) and you got the penchant for being a paladin, despite not being of "lawful" inclination and would never want to conform to a too rigid code that is usually associated with paladins and such in rpg.
Course then it would make good sense for me to be a warrior archetye, but fact of the matter is i dont enjoy fighting irl so dont have it in me to be exclusively a warrior, at least when you're paladin or equivalent you're only really concerned with pushing the other people away from those youre shielding, and that i do like ;)

Always picked a spellblade when given the choice. It's the best of both words. Baring that, full mage or Nerco

i nearly always play a stealth character. i tried playing the classic warrior archetype once. and i got my ass handed to me. when i play the glass cannon rogue types, i kick all kinds of ass.

though in D&D i play a custom class loosely based on a druid.

Anything that's fun to play as, except for support/healer classes.
For whatever reason, I've always preferred to be a damage dealer than a helper.

BF2- sniper, BL2- Zero, Batman Arkham Asylum.... I'm a shadowy sonofabitch. Maybe it's my inherent anti-socialism shining through.
