I've spent so much time and money on games, there's not much else in my house for me to do.
So to kill time, I guess. "It's a hobby" would be a better description.

I play for Gameplay, and nothing else. You could make a game in which I play a pixel in a pixel world with no sound, but as long as the gameplay is good I can enjoy it. Nothing is more important than gameplay.

i always do it for fun, i do get into it and get semi competitive occasionally, but i mostly do it for the adventure and sight of the game.

up until a few years ago thats what i thought games were all about..but i met someone (we are decent friends suprisingly) but all he does, is play games for competition, and im not even kidding, he wont play a single game that isn't competitive, and if it isn't he says how bad it is and how its a waste of time. anytime he loses in anything he turns into this raging troll and anytime he wins he turns into the elitist king, its quite sad trying to play games with him =\ so point of the story is there are people out there that game just to compete, not for fun, or for the adventure, but pure competition.

i garuntee you can guess what games he plays.

why is fun not an option?
Real gamers don't game for fun! They do it for glory, it is their way.
you mean obsessive gamers.
are those supposed to be the ''real'' ones?

I for one am glad to be a poser then. xD

you can have fun based on any thing
which of those options makes you have the most fun

I think that's why "fun" isn't an option

In WoW, it is for content, loot and glory.

But mostly I game because it is fun.
The loot aspect I don't really understand. I sort of do, in like Naxx, Ulduar and ToC for that next raid, but ICC, especially after you've cleared it... content's over for the expansion.

But that's just me, because I raided for personal reasons, not for the raiding. I won't be raiding in Cata because I can't be bothered with the drama, whining, people complaining about loot/gear, wipe-city because people don't know what they're doing... thank god I'm retired.

I'm not sure, it offers some kind of happiness and entertainment for when I've run out of things to read.

For me It's fun and content but mostly content. It's a way for me to see someone else's fictional world and be a part of it you can't do that with movies or books.

I play games because its something to do when i have nothing to do, and its an alright way to temporarily escape the shitty life i got. Content, gameplay and story is the most important thing in a game imo.

this pole is a little broken
it should be

story/writing
game-play
visuals
sound
achievements
the challenge
socializing
or
Must...continue...playing....WOW...

and "fun" isn't up there because the question should be "which of these makes a game the most fun to you."

Um, the experience?

It's kinda like a drug, it's useless and mostly just wastes your time. It's also expensive. But it's awesome, damnit.
Maybe all gaming is pointless, just playing with the gravel on the side of the road of life. But hey - at least there's violence and tits.

I assume all people game for fun, so that's a moot topic.

I said content, but really just fun. It depends on the game what I'll focus on. Most of the time I'll go through it mainly for the story, at least the first time around. If there's a second time, it's usually for gameplay and I often mix it up with some RP (I can RP the first time through as well, but what I mean here is imagining my own quests and such).
