At first I thought that furries are the dominating group of fetishists on the internet because of their sheer obnoxiousness, but it seems that they are actually surprisingly numerous.

What the hell happened in the early 90s that made this filth spread like the bubonic plague? Because I'm pretty sure that noone in the trenches of Somme was dreaming of fucking an antropomorphic wolf. Is it because children left alone in front of a TV playing cartoons about talking animals developed some kind of subsidiary Freudian attraction to antropomorphic animals rather than their absent mothers or was it just the Chernobyl disaster?

I mean back then TV was basically the "parent" of so many kids.

There were so many cartoons with talking animals, now that I think about it....

Even I felt an "attraction" to talking animals but I snapped out of it within a minute.

Yeah I feel the same way, but I don't dislike them. I'm just indifferent about it.

There are several clasifications of a furry (all of which I will not cover). One is, a person who enjoys works that have anthropomorphic characters in them (in a nonsexual way). This is a very lose and much debated type which many non "furries" many still apply. There is another category which a person gets a fursona which they use to role-play, talk on forums, write stories and other works of fiction about. The next is fursuiters who get into costumes and go to conventions. And the last is the one is when someone is turned on by pictures of arthro characters.

Disclamer: These are things that I have heard from other threads about this topic and other experiences. I am also not a member of the fandom so I am not sure all of what I have just said is 100% correct.

BDSM conventions do exist.

Some time, have a look around you and see how much vanilla heterosexuality is 'shoved in everyone's faces'. You exist in a culture which privileges you, your expectations and your perspectives. The pandering to that vanilla heterosexual group is so all-pervasive, so overpowering that it is nearly invisible. Just because it's considered 'normal' due to socialised expectations, doesn't mean that it is either the most valid sexuality to operate under, nor one devoid of fetishes. G-strings and push-up bras spring to mind.

I keep hearing about how there are all of these furries running around shoving what they like in everybody's face and I've yet to meet one. Funny how these things work out.

So either prove that furries run around doing this or stop lying.
