Cool, The escapist crowd is surprisingly tolerant... or is that apathetic? XD
Both. This is probably the most liberal, left wing "live and let live" community you'll ever find on the internet. Whereas most people would discriminate against liberals in the real world, it's the opposite here; people tend to gang up on the conservative right wing. Make of that what you will.

I really don't... 'get' the whole business about 'being a furry', much in the same way i really don't 'get' the point of religion. For example, i don't understand why you need to parade yourself saying "i'm a christian / muslim / jew / whatever!" I mean... what's the point? What do you accomplish by branding yourself? The same goes for furries. Why do you have to announce you like human-like animals? Why can't you just like what you like privately? I don't run around announcing i enjoy shooting clay pigeons with a shotgun, or that pizza is my favourite food, because announcing it seems to accomplish nothing. Is social identity really that important to you, even if it can lead to discrimination and hatred?

Furries are ok, I find things like cat girls very cute. You should google monster girl encyclopedia, IMO those illustrations show that furry in appropriate doses = win. My favourite is Alraune, sexiest plant I have ever seen.

I only know one furry. He's a decent guy who goes to conventions around here and hands out balloons, gets pictures commissioned, etc. I think it's a kind of an odd quirk, but he doesn't bother me any.

The furry fandom is probably the most harmless fandom on the internet. I just don't see what's so controversial about it.

As a recently discovered Brony my opinion of furries has softened. Instead of being fed to the cyborg lions in my future empires coliseum I will experiment human/animal DNA splicing on them. It's a win-win scenario. The furries can potentially fulfil their fantasies and I gain some interesting feral shock troops to compliment my legions. They can be used to determine whether I should use conventional tactics for my invasion of Pandora or just glass it from orbit for the unobtainium.

The people who like them, or the anthropomorphic animals? Or the people who dress in suits? Or the people turned on by them?
That's what annoys me. get your damn definitions straight Furries, and then we'll talk. The fact that a lot of them seem to act like being a furry changes their personality in any way gets on my nerves.
Other than that, I don't care what they do or do like.

Live and let live. Simple and nice motto.
^^this.

I'm not a furry, I haven't seen a furry irl, and nobody I know is a furry.

Now let me ask YOU a question? What do you think about people who make threads that have been done a million times before?

according to urban dictionary-

Urban Dictionary is a terrible place to get advice from. Google is better.
Or the furrehs usergroup http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Furrehs

People who like anthropomorphic animals = furries

People who dress up in fursuits = furries

People who are attracted to fursuits = furries

It's not more complex than that. Other than that many furries hate fursuiters and vice versa.

I can accept the fact that they exist. I've had two friends admit to me that they're furries and while it hasn't really changed anything between us, it does make things a little weird. It's not necessarily a fetish as much as another form of escapism (both have told me they don't like the idea of fursuit sex). To each his own?

I've gone around telling friends I watch "The Cartoon That Must Not Be Named," and that seems to scare people just as much.

Behaviour wise, they're fine.

They tend to stick out of a crowd, but otherwise I have no problems with them.

I'm not one, I don't really understand it (I get the art, just not the role playing) and I don't really care to understand it. People have their own sexual likes and dislikes, and that's their own thing (I am aware that not all furries see it as a sexual thing)

The only time it bothers me is when I meet a furry who acts like they're better than me, or I'm somehow inferior because I like my big breasted women to have human faces.

But that's more the fault of the individual than the culture itself.

Which having 3 (and more) definitions that go with the word furry, all in the same culture, is confusing as shit. And really, a lot of the hate stems from that misunderstanding.

EDIT:

Ok, first post didn't make much sense.

Basically, live and let live, but never the twain shall meet.

I can't accurately describe my dislike towards furries in a manner that is appropriate for the forum.

Well furries can hardly be blamed for that. They can't help what people choose to label as furries or not. If you were to dig into the fandom, you'd find that most furries don't even use that word anywhere near as often as absolutely everyone else who speaks of "furries". A fursuiter is not called a furry. A person who likes furry porn is called a yiffer. And so forth.

Some can be annoying as hell but that's just a vocal minority, but please don't stereotype them.

You get very similar issues with gay people. Most gay people are fine and act just like anyone else, you wouldn't even know they were gay unless they told you. But then you get the annoying flamboyant type that skip around telling everyone they're gay just to get attention, again it's just a vocal minority.

I honestly don't give a shit. It's a fetish, for Christ's sake. I've got weirder fetishes and I'm surprised I'm not being e-persecuted for my fetishes rather than furries. Oh well, I guess they're just easy targets for trolls.
