I've been taking pictures for a school project, and I'd like to know what people other than my friends and family think of them, I took these pics myself, I didn't steal them, and I didn't Google search nature, no flaming, lemme know if you like em.

The pics are pretty big and there are a few of them so it might not show up right away, don't be a shitbird, if you're gonna steal my pics at least namedrop me, other than that, enjoy!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I just began photography for this project, I've got a really good teacher (my dad), but he used to be a Combat Photographer, so he's not the leading authority for snapping flowers and such, if you have any beginners tips it would be greatly appreciated.

I think these are quite good. The focus is nice and clear and you can see the many details that surround the subject.

I tend to agree, the technical work is there but the creativeness is seriously lacking. The only picture I like was the one of the clouds. It also seems a bit "one trick pony"-ish, dominated by tightly focused close ups of small objects.

I voted "meh", they're good for adorning wikipedia articles on various plants but that's about it.

You're a great photographer, now use that potential!
Thanks, I'm kinda restricted to nature for the duration of the project, but I definetly want to keep taking pics, and thanks for the compliment, I have a really good teacher.

Not bad. Could be sharper IMO. I'm not a photographer myself. They don't wow me like they probably could.

Thanks. I'd take "meh" over a kick in the nick any day of the week, I've just started photography and right now Wikipedia article doesn't sound half bad at this point. My dad is teahcing me but he was a combat photographer, so flowers and clouds aren't really his thing.

I think they're pretty, and would look nice photoshopped a little bit.
I hope you use your potential to photograph other things, a few photo shoots would be nice.

On some of the macro shots I found my eyes hurting because they weren't focused well enough.

Are you using a point-and-shoot or an SLR?

You already know they're good, else you wouldn't post them up here ;)

It's well presented, the main focus is nicely set against the background noise and the main ingredients (camera focus, correct lighting, angle, frame etc) seem to be in place well enough to look professional.

Point-and-shoot I believe, again, I just started and the terms "SLR" and "Marco shots" don't mean much to me.

Too true, my friends and teacher and family like them, but then I was worried they might be a little biased due to how much they love me and how great they think I am, besides, not many of them are an authority on photography, so I figured I'd ask the Escapists' in their infinite wisdom.

Pretty good. Consider me impressed.

But wow, does that place ever look cold in the pictures. Wouldn't want to be there.

Nothing compared to Bavaria in the winter.

A macro is basically a close-up shot. SLR stands for single-lens reflex, which means you see exactly what you're going to shoot.

They look like this. [http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2008/03/12/nikon_wideweb__470x390,0.jpg]

Also, I'm going to guess you live in Maine, or at least some place in New England.

Wouldn't know. I live in northern Japan, which has ridiculous amounts of snow, but isn't that cold. Been to northern Sweden in february, though. That was... unpleasant.

Oh, actually I'm using an SLR then, sorry. And you couldn't be more wrong without naming another country, I'm in Louisiana at the moment, which is where all my pictures come from at the moment.
