The arming sword was the choice of Knights between 1000 and 1500.
I'd probably take it with a kite or heater shield.

And I already own one. So there's a bonus.
Not to mention that if I was armoured, katanas would bounce off me.

Katanas are so terribly overrated. They're a thin curved rectangle with a disk. Anyway, since this beautiful ************ isn't an option (although I wish the blade was longer)-

I'd say the 1912 pattern Cavalry Officer's sword. Truly a beautiful thing. Simple and understated but with a touch of class.

I prefer the hand and a half bastard sword so I have the option of one hand or two. gives the option of a nice shield.

Though id be lying if I said i didnt enjoy the elegance of a rapier. Itd be impractical as fuck but Id say I'd carry a broadsword and rapier into battle, for whatever the occasion called for.

I'm going to have to go with the Turkish Kilij. A very fine slashing weapon cause of it's curve, and really quick.
