I don't think even if "just believing in something" makes it a religion that atheism could be a religion. I know it's "Believing in nothing" but you could also put it is "Not believing in something", which is the negation of your condition.

Now we're getting too philosophical, because one could argue that nothing is something and that the act of believing in it is the very same as believing in something, which would mean not believing in something would be not a religion, however in my opinion (This is coming from an agnostic leaning more and more twords atheist every day) Atheism is believing in something-Science, or nothing, and henceforth is a religion.

I don't want flaming, or religion based arguments. I just curious what religion(or lack thereof) the escapist community is. I will add more based on peoples suggestions.

Would you please separate atheists and agnostics? I'm agnostic and I don't like being lumped in with the non-believers. They're angry.

True enough, its not believing in a god, but religion itself is the act of having a set of ideas about the origin of the universe and the purpose of humanity, and Atheism serves at least one of those points and I think it should serve as a religion or at least as a religious view for that.

Atheism is lack of belief in god. The only thing atheists have in common is that they don't believe in any god. Atheism is as much a religion as not believing in a tooth fairy is. People who call it religion either are ignorant or try to puth all atheist in one group and than bash all of them for the actions of few militant atheists.
Also atheism isn't the same thing as agnosticism, so they should really be separate on the poll.

Its no secret that theres an overwhelming Athiest majority here.

All you have to do is make a thread with even whispers about religion or spirituality and they come out in droves, spouting insults and veiled jabs at anyone who believes in anything other than that theres no God. People talk about how Jehovahs bother people, going door to door preaching... but honestly more Athiests have shoved their beliefs down my throat than anyone. I don't care what you believe, keep your reasons to yourself. They are yours and yours alone, and if you choose to believe theres no God I don't need to know about it.
