I'm sorry, but every single state on this thread just got the shit kicked out of it by may state, Washington. Not only do we have the three of the four future overlords of mankind Microsoft, Costco, and Starbucks, the other being Wal-Mart, but we also have great coffee (not just Starbucks), game developers (Valve, Nintendo's software developers and US headquarters, Sucker Punch (the people who made Infamous) Bungie, and I'm sure a few smaller ones), Amazon.com, and we have a fuck ton of unspoiled wilderness.

You need to add Northwest to your poll, we all feel insulted we weren't given our own option.

I second that, if fact I since I see quite a few people from Washington. Maybe we should just have our state as an option.

But at least add the Northwest, it's a real devision we swear.

I actually sometimes just consider Washington and Oregon somewhat the same state (although that could just be because I live on the boarder of Vancouver and Portland), we have very similar mannerisms and the same "type" of people although the people of Washington seem to be a bit more refined.

Ya but you lose points for Seattle. I'm from Oregon, I've driven up to Seattle a few times and I've hated my life every single time. No matter what, it seems that dealing with traffic anywhere near Seattle is about as enjoyable as a cavity search. But I still feel some comradeship for Washington. And I most certainly agree with the insult in not being given a Northwest option in the poll!

Oregon's pretty damn cool too. Plenty of open space, beaches, mountains, lush camping areas, great for out-doorsy people. Portland is a pretty sweet cultural center. I'm not much of a city person, but I have to say that if I were to choose a city to live in, it would have to be Portland. Also, no sales tax. And people get paid to pump my gas. Creates jobs and saves me the hassle.

But I don't really want more people moving here and clogging up my roads like Seattle. So anyone looking for a new place to live, pretend Oregon is dry, ugly, flat, and uninteresting.

The traffic is pretty bad in the Seattle area but it's so much fun to just go up for the day that I can deal with it. The real downside to Seattle is the sports teams. It's been a rough few years to be a Seahawks or Mariners fan ;_;

I fucking love Portland, it's like my second home city (Vancouver/Camas is my first). There's nothing like spending the day at Powells Books, and leaving with an excessive amount of books.

Probably because I'm a foreigner and have heard of Portland and not Corpus Christi. Which is also a really whack name for a town btw. I imagine it to be perfectly spherical and edible, but only after having a sip of red wine. Maybe the entire town can be used as an escape vessel when the aliens invade.


I'm from Cheese-head land. The Japanese also have a saying that wherever one of my countrymen passes grass will never grow again because we are basically devoid of all niceties when it comes to making business deals. For a while we were also the only foreigners allowed upon Japanese shores, I believe the English messed that sweet little monopoly up for us.

Illinois or more accurately Chicago Land. Were we have Chicago style hot dogs and pizza, plus some mean baby back ribs and a whole shit ton of attractions like Buckingham Fountain, John Hancock Center, Millennium Park, Shedd Aquarium and Navy Pier just to name a few and we have some of the most corrupt politicians around.

I like it here well enough. The only other place I've been to that I think I would enjoy living is Portland Oregon (Powell's bookstore is my Mecca).
I'm not sure whether to like it or be sad about it but down here you can drive for hours without leaving city, you just go from one to the next without ever really being sure where the change happened. I tend to figure it means that I can go all sorts of places and find all sorts of stores, bars, restaurants, ect.

I'm sorry I cannot continue this conversation. We normal Washingtonians don't associate with those hippies down south. Kidding of course. It's a running joke around these parts that everyone in Oregon is a hippy and can't drive.

It's the predictability of it that throws most people, there are other major cities that see quite a bit more rain the Seattle. The vast majority of the rain we get is all crammed into a somewhat short (three month long) rainy season, and we have the opposite weather in the summer months with three months nearly devoid of rain. The rest of the time it rains off and on, but it stays overcast pretty much the entire fall and winter months.

I am wondering if you are thinking of Portland, OR when you mention having heard of Portland. To put it in perspective Portland has 16,000 people living in the town, Corpus has 350,000 people living in the town.

However I suppose since Corpus lacks a population of Red Dragons, Portland might deserve a spot on the map. Go Wikipedia.

Oh Corpus Christi is a stink hole. It's just a big sprawl town, you think a town that size would have more then a handful of buildings over five stories.
