I dont demonize swearing (Otherwise, Captain Hypocrite is on the scene) but c**t sounds so... dark. Especially when people really shout it or yell it. It's so... cringy.

Pretty much any other swear I use jokingly around my friends, calling them "stupid fucks" and whatnot (hey, I'm a nice guy normally) but c**t just crosses the line.

Oh, and seeing Justin Bieber made me lol. I might use that one.

None of those really, i swear like a sailor myself most likely it'd be people getting mad at me for swearing rather than the other way around :p And before anyone asks, no i do not swear cause it's cool, it just comes naturally, part of my language.

I'm not offended by any swears. I have no reason to care what that person thinks about me.

No swear words truly affect me. They are just words, and we ourselves give meaning to them. If someone said 'tree' instead of 's***', but used it in the same context, with the same tone, it would be just as offensive (not very, these things never affect me, I am too stubborn to let them), and much more funny. F***, S*** and C*** (To a lesser extent) are becoming commonly used words to convey greater feeling behind the word (I've forgotten what the word for that is, but the effect is similar to putting an exclamation mark after a word). Not even racial slurs mean that much to me, so long as they are not used in a derogatory manner, but more in the style that you see them sometimes used in movies (E.G: Black guys walking up to each other and saying 'Wassup N****!')
I voted Justin Bieber as that is my personal Voldemort; He/She? who shall not be named. Anyone who says that in my presence will promptly receive a backhander to the face for bringing such an offensive topic up.

I don't think its so much certain cusses so much as how often they are said. I'd say fuck drives me nuts simply because a lot of people string every 3 words together with it.
I agree completely. I'm not personally offended by any of them, but the rampant use of this word is both annoying and detracts from any points being made by the speaker.

The word with the most impact seems to be c**t in my area. It is very seldom said and is often associated with genuine emotion, rather than being thrown around in conversation.

I always think a sentence based on true negative qualities a person has is worse than any swear word, though **** is considered pretty bad.

I came into this thread thinking it was **** but then I saw Justin Bieber and just felt compelled to vote that...

Offense? Ha! I laugh at your silly attempts to hurt my feelings asshat! In australia (or at least where I live) nobody really gives a flying fuck about swearing. we're all pretty lax about it. Although it does kinda annoy me when people misuse or overuse swear words. Then again it annoys me when people do that with any kind of word so that just makes me a langauge snob.

None.

I really don't understand why people get so offended with 'swear words' lots of words offend people, depending how you use them.

None offend me, they're just words but what annoys me is the use of gay as something bad!

I think it's fair not to be inherently offended by swears, but there are certain words you should avoid simply to avoid social blowback. I mean, I don't find nakedness offensive, but I'm not whipping out my dick in public either.

It used to be ****, but now i use it because it has a lot of OOMPH. Although i can see why it can be offensive to some softies so i try to revert to fuck most of the time.

it also used to be the use of ******, using homosexuality as an insult, but now i don't see it as that. I see it just as an insult, describing someone i find to be just 'one of those people'. I'm sure everyone can envision them.

What pisses me off is when someone either overuses a curse word eg. "Get the fuck out of the fucking truck you fucking wanker before i fucking fuck your fucking **** of a mother with this ere fucking rabbit."

Also, when people come back at me with the same curse word or insult i have just used. I prefer when people get creative when they are verbally abusing me, rather than just recycling 5 second old insults.

It doesn't particularly offend me, but I hate the word '****', especially the recent popularization on social networking sites.

There is no single word which, in or out of any context I would be offended by (that I can think of). It takes actual statements (you know meaningful phrases, not childish words), to cause offence.

also why was twat/spaz on the same vote? Twat originally has the same meaning as ****, which both refer to a vag, but both have been used as an insult, (you fucking twat / hey ****-nugget).
Spas originally means someone with a learning (or sometimes other) disability. Back in the 70s, or possibly older, Spastic was the correct term to use, but was shortened to spas as a derogatory term.

swears are over used however, and to cause any form of offence, have to be put into a context which can be intended directly to insult another person e.g. cock = cock muncher

I had to flip a coin to decide between fag and retard, and it came down retard. I really don't like either of those words. I'd be a hypocrite to say any of the others offend me, although I dislike spaz for the same reason as retard.

Off Topic slightly but I am amused that the US is remaking the Australian TV Show Wilfred as they prided themselves on Wilfred being able to say **** once per episode. Somehow I don't think that will make it through the translation.

I don't find any swear words offensive, no more than any other insults. Words are just words, it's what we attach to them that's the problem. Swear words that are overused really annoy me, but that's the same as any other overused word.
