Not really offended by it, but I do try to correct people when they use the word Gay as a way of saying something is bad. As in, That's gay. Similar dislike for Fag/****** when used as an insult. I don't like the correlation between homosexuality and something being sub-par.

But using it in a joke as a way of showing endearment or simply making jokes? No problem at all. I even do that myself, because I can joke about myself and I know my friends don't get angry when I call them faggots for chickening out of something.

The key difference is how it is used and to whom it is said to.

Kanker it,s a curse word only used in the Benelux (Belgium Netherlands and Luxembourg) it translates to cancer in the English language and is used in the same way as Fuck it even sounds horrible and is the only curse word I will never use (I only used it once in my entire live as curse word)
Same here. Saying that word means you wish someone cancer. All cuss words that include diseases are a no go to me.
Why would you be offended by the slang words of genitalia though? If someone calls you a dick just respond with "No, I have one, big difference.

When I cuss I use goddammit or other blasphemies. It only offends the people that believe that bullocks anyway.

I don't mind swear words. I find the context hurts more. I have been called all kinds of swear words which I have deflected off. Normally when someone is swearing they are just venting. So I let them vent. When someone insults me without a swear word or it used very well. Then I'm hurt. They are just words no matter what value is connected to them.

Twat/Spaz

maybe it's just a British thing, but these have two totally different meanings...

eg.

"****."

Although it depends on context.

Someone might slam their fingers in a door and yell, "Arg, that fucking **** of a thing!" Then I would barely notice. But someone calls a women a **** to her face, then my blood starts boiling. It's a horrible thing to say, made all the worse by the latent sexism involved.

1st prize goes to "fag," with "retard" receiving honorable mention. Combine the two and congratulations, you're garbage with shoes.

I don't get offended by swears much, but the C word (yes..'communism') is the only word I personally cannot utter. No idea why, it's just a word. Maybe it's just so short, blunt and harsh. But yes, I flinch if people say it, but couldn't even begin to fathom why.

I don't like swears in general if used as punctuation, but a good ol' 'FUCK!' can really add emphasis to a thought!

All of the above, I dont try to use them, only if I was angry enough.

None. It is not the word that is offensive but the meaning behind the word. Seriously, all you people who think a word is offensive need to grow up IMO.

I can't believe Justin Bieber is the top rated 'swear' word. For God sake, will people ever get over him. People are obsessed. Be it by being in love with him or by hating him. Don't get me wrong, he is extremely over-rated but why would anyone hate him personally. What did he ever do?? I think people just hate him for the sake of hating him because it's 'cool' that they're going against the norm. Get over it!

OT: I don't really find swear words offensive. I suppose the culture i'm in, i hear and use them all the time and people aren't offended or people who use them mean no offence, it is just a force of habbit
