Seriously, we're not all like this. I'm yet another American (a Texan, no less) who'd like to line these guys up and stitch them into a human oroborus. But again, Americans don't have some kind of douchebag monopoly going on. In a way, I wish we did: then I could just leave the country, renounce my citizenship and be free of stupid jerks forever.
Both of my grandfathers fought in WWII, and both of them were completely cool with my taking an interest in Japan. I even got to hang out with a 96-year-old Japanese guy who taught me calligraphy, and he didn't seem to hold any hard feelings.
I'm actually looking into going back to Japan and teaching English for a while, if I can find a position.
Fortunately, none of my friends and acquaintances were directly impacted by the quake/tsunami/reactor. My heart goes out to those who were.
