I would prefer a return to the Counter Strike/Day of Defeat approach.
i)Your melee weapon is either seperate, you have to draw it, or it is your fist/swinging your gun.
Either way it is not instantly preferrable to your main weapon at point blank range.
ii) You have a fast, weak attack and a slow, strong attack. It is preferrable to sneak up on your opponent as the reflex approach doesn't do enough damage. Doing high damage head on requires skill and timing.
iii) Both do more damage from behind, so it is even more expedient to sneak up on your opponent.
iv) Always plays on dedicated servers, host advantage is irrelevant then.
