Poll: What was your first Pokemon?

I never let that Squirtle evolve into a Wartortle. Ever. I saw Wartortle as a worthless middle-man stage, so mine went straight from a Squirtle into a Blastoise.

Charmander (in the original Red). I mean, it's a fire-breathing dragon. You don't get any cooler than that.

Oddly enough none of Charmander's evolutions are counted as "Dragon" type.
Also, I'm a Bulbasaur guy myself.

I meant in that it looked like a dragon, not that it was of the `Dragon type'. Apologies for the confusion.

PIKACHU!

I loved my Pikachu from Yellow, but Brock was always annoying to fight because of his Onyx. I would always need to capture a Caterpee and evolve it into a Butterfree just to finish that boss battle, and then immediately after winning I would place the Butterfree into my PC (where it would never be called upon for battle again) because I had no use for it after that.

Other than that con, Pikachu was such a great Pokemon. Misty never stood a chance...

Every game since then I traded for an Eevee though, I love Evee.

i started Pokemon late so mine was a mudkip in sapphire.... i didn't know how to catch Pokemon so it was level 94 by the time i reached the elite four.

Bulbasaur, cause i almost always try and pick the least popular one. (Don't recall if i had a blue or a red. I ended up with both.) But I ended up hating grass types so much, i went fire after that for each of the other games.

I picked Charmander because I thought it looked cool, and I wanted the additional challenge (and perceived power) of the fire starter. I'd heard tell that the game was harder with Charmander, and for a while it was true. Brock and Misty are tailor made to take a fire pokemon down, and Mount Moon was an entire dungeon of fire resistant enemies (Zubat non-withstanding, the confuse-casting jerk).
