'Shaping' (See: Geneforge) or Undetectable long distance mind control.

I swear to god I'd go full villain so hard and fast my neck would snap from the whiplash.

Shaping? I have dragons. Give me your money. Shut up. I have dragons.

Mind control?

Wow, looks like Chris Hemsworth suddenly wants to abandon the Marvel movie franchise and come live with me. Evans too. And all members of EXO and BTS? Might be a bit crowded. Geez what a cowinkydink, Oprahs giving me half of all her money. Trumps committed suicide, what a shame, *fake sniffle, as I eat my twentyfive thousand dollar dessert in the lap of a shirtless Chris Hemsworth on an island named after me as, with less then twenty people in the right places, I get everything I want*

Oh, I have a super 'Hero' nemesis?
Do they have family? Well, do tell them if they give me any trouble that their significant other might get some strange thoughts about how close those knives are, how miserable their lives are and the fragility of the children either in the nearest school or, god help them, their own.

Cruel? Yes. But effective and as a mind-control villain you do not become a king. You lead the kings. I wouldn't have a reason to kill anyone in particular that isn't either 1. attacking me or 2. making life generally miserable for others. Just me, making the world a better place. One thought at a time.

Are we really that juvenile to always go with the boring godlike powers?

I'd take the power to control pudding. I would build my pudding castle on the shore of the Pudding River in Oregon. I would open my own theme park. And if they don't love pudding, they'll start to fear it instead.

The actual issue I have with these super-duper powers is an existential one. There's virtually no chance they would appear without a purpose.

Considering they are completely fictional, to declare they would have to appear with a purpose seems flawed. And even if we use common entertainment as a template of "The Rules" about power, that still means that a vast majority of the time, those powers "purpose" would be something along the lines of "do good, help the world".

Just give me Superman's kit and the ability to shut that shit off on a whim...and also immortality with the caveat that I can off myself if I want to.

Bam, space overlord. Muhuhahahahahahahahaha-

I'd likely just do what I could to protect people and the earth/explore for other life.

I'm kind of lame like that, I suppose.

I'd bet more on the line with "let's see what happens, lol". It's not a thread about dream jobs which would obviously be more grounded, and yet I think the thread itself is fine, but people often just seem to pick something that gets them everything an average person can imagine in the long run. Maybe overthinking it, but it's like wishing the genie to make you the richest person on the planet. How much would the world have to change? History too? Maybe you will wake up as Bill Gates or something.

Shapeshift... uh... Probably limit it to just human-based shapeshifting and then have, at least, 6 different personas on top of my OG persona... That would be so killer, yo!

Other than that, "occationally" always looking fabulous! *hair whip*

Well it is a thread about power fantasy/wish fulfillment, so it's not that big a surprise people would make choices like that.

Just give me the ability of flight and I'm golden. No more expenses on traveling, Elfy can just fly there. Not to mention it will most likely be a fantastic work out.

Mind control. I honestly couldn't say if I would do good or ill with it (even if I tried to do one or the other some people would likely interpret it as the opposite anyway), but with that type of power I could literally reshape the world and do it without people even realizing it.

...well, my dream super power is the ability to grant my own wishes, so... success! Time to wish for all other super powers and become Lord Tyrant King of the Universe, mwahahahaha!

...ok, that's too broken. How about the Super Power of Perfection? So anything I do works and I can never fail? That way I can do all the cool kind of shit like make funky gadgets or do awesome science stuff and also be an amazing track/field guy or whatever I wanted. It'd be great.

...also I could put my mind towards making a machine that granted wishes, and pull it off perfectly! Ha, loopholes!

I'd use my time power to sleep in as late as I want each day. I've wanted to be able to do that for years.

I would be torn. Perhaps I would take telekenesis and become the world's greatest magician or perhaps I would take the ability to walk through solid objects and become the world's most unstoppable bank robber. Either would suit me and enrich me. Probably the immateriality. I've always fancied being a super villain, and seeing as one of my main reasons for desiring riches is to take care of my epileptic fiance, I even have a rather traditional super villain motivation. I would also, of course, dress as Robin Hood fox and hand out money to the poor.

I'd be a hero with electricity manipulation.
Infamous 2 got to me.

Knowing me though, I'd probably just go out on weekends, and go to Greek and Scandinavian countries to fuck with them. I can just imagine flying around shooting lightning, while yelling, "I am Thor/Zeus!"

Being a hero with a little bit of fun.

Long-range Mind Control.

I'd probably just use it to subtly make my own life comfortable and occassionaly make the world's shittiest people gradually turn themselves around. I mean, no need to do stuff that would draw unneeded attention to myself, right?

I'd probably try to be a hero, buuuutttt there's a high chance I might go over the slippery slope and go crazy. Though I'd also try to come up with ways to prevent this (Being a geek does have it's benefits).

As for powers, I think I'd like to have some form of shapeshifting. Or be able to transform myself and others. In that case, I'd do whatever I wanted with them...

I'd be neither hero nor villain.

Mainly because after I got done obliterating planet Earth and wiping the universe clean of humanity, there wouldn't be much discussion of the matter.

Yeah, I don't like many people right now.

My power is I can perfectly mimic a 20th level 3.5 D&D Wizard or (Pathfinder Arcanist) with a spellbook containing every Wizard spell printed by WotC and Paizo and no Xp loss since Xp doesn't exist in our world.

I would create my own little island and tell the world governments to play nice with me and I'll occasionally take care of major global issues for the UN. Then I'd probably just go explore the world.

If being a Wizard isn't a "power," perfect gravity manipulation and awareness at a subconscious level and to the molecular scale, which would give me an invulnerable shield, flight, telekenesis, and the ability to do the exact same thing without as many flashy abilities.
