Why? Because I find her art style appalling? I never liked Powerpuff girls as a child. Most people who are fans of the FiM craze are adult males. I have no problem with people liking other things. I've actually seen 2 episodes of this show. The characters lines and voices are like cheese-graters, the art-style is pretty much what Faust usually does, like rainbow vomit, the story-lines just seem laughable at times.

Yes I am a bit upset that I can't search and find anything from the old MLP. Is that why i think FiM is bad? No. It's because the ponies are whiny and the plot-lines are stupid.

And yes, i do hate Lauren "Powerpuff" Faust's work. I disliked Powerpuff girl, was mildly apathetic to its departure, I hated Fosters, was glad to see it go, and i will do a back-flip once FiM is on its way out the door.

It has nothing to do with nostalgia dear 'Brony'. I don't like the show, I don't like her work, and I'm mildly upset that a search for My Little Pony shows nothing but Fim.

Also it would help my opinion of the show greatly if you and your fellow Bronies would kindly stop trying to make me like it and calling me 'soulless' just because I don't, because I find it bad, even without comparing it to the original and tales.
As demonstrated by Calbeck, by having no understanding what-so-ever of what it means to whine, you've made yourself subjective to my favorite moment from my least favorite pony: "That's not whining; THIS IS WHINING!"

The reason you can't find anything about your favorite pony cartoon is because nobody cares; all previous iterations of My Little Pony were shitty pandering toy commercials who thought nothing of the audience's intelligence. Don't blame us on your bad taste.
Again this is more of an opinion thing, but have you ever even seen the old MLP? Back when it was good? At least good at what it was supposed to be anyways, attractive to young females and not the creepy people your mummy warned you about on the internet.

Also I did not say whining, i said whin-Y. I'd rather listen to a cat sliding down a chalkboard or nails in a blender than ever hear their voices again.

And toy commercials? really? You just say that because you like the new one, which is fine. I'm just expressing my opinion on the show. If you want to pull the toy commercial card I then can safely ruin Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and GI Joe with the same arguement.

The show is poorly written, badly voiced, and stupidly drawn. I was watching my mom's friend's daughter, who is 7, and this came on. I left it on because its supposed to be a kids show and was the only one on. Within 5 minutes she looked at me and said "i don't wanna watch this, it's stupid."

So while it has all the dimwitted jokes that made spongebob and 4chan so popular, it fails at everything it was supposedly trying to do.

But again, opinions, opinions. You can take your Fim and go brony around wherever you please good sir, but do not shove your metaphorical pony-dick down my throat or i will bite it off.

I feel the need to point out that no, you can't ruin Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles like that. TMNT started out as a comic book. The toy franchise came after the cartoon (although, given the nature of the comics, it is perhaps surprising that there was a cartoon at all; kids' material they are not).

Transformers and GI Joe are still fair game though, but you're only allowed to play that card if you admit that ALL iterations of My Little Pony, from the originals that you liked to this new one that everyone else likes, were created because Hasbro wanted a cartoon to back up their toy line.

Its a meme. Honestly, I think most people actually dont watch/like the show and just want to follow everyone else.
Internet people love their memes...
I love the show but I have to agree with you to an extent.
I know a few people that seem to follow memes religiously and probably only like the show because it is popular on the internet right now.
I don't however subscribe to memes, I tried watching it because I saw people talking about it on the net and I genuinely like it.

Have you actually tried it?
I think people who don't give things a chance because of baseless prejudices are just as bad as mindless followers of trends.

It became a meme because people actually liked it to start off with, however because of this, meme sheep latched onto it as well.
There are people who genuinely enjoy it!

I can only assume it's got some kind of subliminal hypnotic messages hidden within. Nothing can be THAT popular, particularly something based on such an eminently and embarrassingly girly property suddenly gaining universal mass appeal.

Right now the messages are merely instructing you to evangelise the show and encourage as many other people to watch it as possible, so they can also be drawn in by the blipverts. Once a big enough critical mass has been achieved, they'll switch to actually giving more serious orders - and I don't just mean "buy all our merch" (...but hey, the revolution has to be funded somehow, right? Besides, daddy needs a new Lamborghini).

I don't dare watch it simply for those reasons - heaven knows I'm into enough other questionable stuff anyway (e.g. when my brother's girlfriend wanted to borrow Whisper Of The Heart and The Cat Returns, who did she call?). But it's always been a hard sell previously. Even the Powerpuff Girls had a slower start, and that was a far less sugary, more tongue in cheek show airing at the height of "girl power" where you didn't lose as much cred for admitting to it (see also: Clarissa explains it all)

The highly self-propagating-meme nature of this worries me - otherwise, yknow, I'd give it a look; there's YT videos showing that the original 1980s MLP had its share of surprisingly dark (and hilarious) moments after all.... but then again maybe I've just read too much creepypasta.

Just to say the last line got me laughing irl. :p It's funny cos its true!(at least in my case)

I do faintly remember the old MLP (watched a few episodes out of curiosity, do remember being pleasantly surprised), I can imagine it being a tad annoying that the new show which has nothing to do with old and even butchers it in regard to characters (from what i understand, applejack is one of the original MLPS for example) suddenly becomes uber popular and then peeps from that fandom have the gall to try to recruit you/imply your show isnt good cos it wasnt popular (if we had internet back then who knows? it could have! xD).

Little less rage there, I think that last paragraph was a bit uncalled for, and the whole thing had an aggressive tone to it.

And it has been stated repeatedly that the show was created to be a good show. Not a good show "for children", not a good show "for little girls", but a good show that had mass appeal. Which is why it became so popular; it's succeeded in doing that.

And from what I've seen, and what I've heard from scores of others (and not just from fans), it's a pretty widespread view that the show is VERY well animated (especially considering it's in Flash), and that the voice acting is very well done. But I suppose, like you said, you're entitled to your opinion, right? You just forgot to add "I think" or "It's my belief that..." before a few of your statements.

There was some ToonBOOM in there too, which doubtless expedited the process considerably.

Maybe i'm old, or maybe it's because i'm a girl, but i hated both those shows.

Nowadays I can't even search for the old, good MLP, or even the less good but still good MLPTales. All that shows up is this 'friendship is magic' thing that is tearing my childhood happiness to pieces, putting it into a blender, and forcing me to drink it while stomping on my heart.

I hate you lady who created this show. I hate you with every fiber of my being and hope you choke on the cocaine you buy with the money you make off this show. Because that is the only way to make something so awful. With large amounts of cocaine.
You want someone to overdoes on cocaine because fans of her show made it harder for you to search for the original My Little Pony? And people say the FiM fans are crazy.

You know, you are very quick on the draw. Every pony thread that gets made here you are always within the first five posts.
Should have seen me back in early-mid 2010. I was first on pretty much every thread. Like, seriously, people took notice. Ask them!

And it's not just pony threads, like you stated. It's whichever new thread I feel like posting in. :p
I've honestly never seen you once on this site until today ... now I see you everywhere!

I never said they weren't.

Condor: I assumed since i was writing it and not specifically pointing out the sources for the facts it was fairly obvious an opinion rather than a fact.

Bellfast: its a figure of speech, first of all, second, i don't like her work and i'm fairly sick of her fans trying to force me to. This is just the frustration against people like Brony here who seem to think i'm a soulless brainless twit just because i hate their show.

And to Mr. Brony Horny Ico calling me stupid. I have backed my opinion up with reasoning. The art is the same style as Fosters and PPG, which I found very poor. The voices are annoying, the writing is very unintuitive, in my opinion, and the characterization isn't up to par either.

I also never said pedophiles. I said "the creepy people your mummy warned you about on the internet". The ones who are eerily obsessed with something and feel the need to vehemently defend it against all possible dislike and cannot seem to comprehend or bear that someone does not like the show.

And while whining certainly falls under the category of whiny, the simple sound of a voice can be whiny without whining. It's a particular way of vocalizing your words with such a sound as to draw ire from someone, on purpose or not.

And my "have you seen blah blah" statements have been just that, asking if anyone else has seen the old MLP, which i found GOOD, and have their own words to compare the two in the hopes of an unbiased discussion with someone who understands what i'm talking about, rather than people who are, at best, vaguely aware that the older ones existed, and have no basis therefore to compare the two.

It would be like me comparing Pokemon to Monkey Island, having never played the latter, and assuming that since i never played it, that the someone going on about it being better must be wrong because why would something be better if i've never played it and therefore it isn't as popular.

Also, infinite tolerance? picking fights? Someone asked my opinion about the show and I posted it, then all of the sudden i'm getting 3 quotes a day of Bronies like yourself telling me why i'm wrong. I picked no fight here, i merely stated my opinion and took out a small amount of my frustration at all the metaphorical pony dick i'm apparently supposed to suck because everyone else likes it, and if i don't i must be evil and wrong.

When you think about it in that context, it has some disturbing implications with Al-Quaida

Like the terror group religion is their reason. If you don't like their religion you must be evil. While most Muslim people(or bronies) are decent enough to leave someone alone for not liking the show, maybe shaking their head at them once, there are the tiny few(Al-Quaida) that seem to think that anyone who thinks otherwise is evil and must be either converted or purged.

Who knows? Maybe you're one of the Muslim protesters in this, sick of hearing how all of your people are crazy for their religion when its only a few that are like that. Maybe you just want to be heard that there are bronies that aren't insane and desperate to murder(chase off the forums and win an internet argument when there really wasn't an argument to begin with) everyone who thinks different.

This is where the analogy starts to break down a little bit, because while i'm sure there are people who listen to you, more than the protesters anyways, you seem to be most upset by the ones who won't.

I'm not saying you're an "average brony" since the average brony, from what i've seen, is either on 4chan, or if its friday, cramming themselves into synchtube to watch the new episode. But you are acting obsessively over this. I do not like the show. I find the voices irritating, i find the art poorly done(and flash Condor is not an excuse), and i find the stories and characters to be flat and about as lovable as a steel wool blanket. Nothing you or any other Brony will change my mind about that.

It's clear you don't like the show, and it's clear you mind wouldn't be changed about that. Nobody hoped to change your view. But you need to understand that this is a discussion board, and if you state one side of an issue you're sure going to hear rebuttals from the other side of the issue. I personally responded because I don't like opinions being implied as fact, and a lot of statements in your first comment implied that. Passive aggression. But now that you've clarified (in detail, I might add), I have no qualms.

One thing, though. Saying "Those creepy people your mum warned you to stay away from" implies pedophiles. No, you didn't say that directly, but it's pretty clear what the statement means, and trying to tell people differently is a futile effort.

And 4chan clearly isn't the only place bronies are at if people are responding to your comments. The popularity came from there, but that's not where it's limited to (check for the 17th most populous user group on the Escapist out of the thousands that exist if you don't believe me). Jus' saying.

In short, I respect what you believe and I don't find you evil or wrong for believing so. I just believe otherwise.
