They're a lot cheaper than bookstores and they deliver free worldwide.I've been buying nearly all my books from them for the last few years now

been reading the series when I have time and am in posession of the next book, right now I'm on six, just started it a few weeks ago but christmas and new years and video games and work have stopped me from sitting down and reading it.

Edit: As a film student/film maker I would love to adapt these books into movies. Personally I think it can be done without sacrificing anything that is important to the story. And by that I mean cutting out bits of filler and things that don't have use. The one issue I have with the series being adapted though, is that there is way too much of the "thinking on the page" type stuff, where you read a characters thoughts, don't know how you would get those feelings across in a film.

That's one of my film-making dreams, turning that fantastic (so far) series into something for a screen.

I just started reading the first book. I tried to read it in fifth grade, but the text was so tiny I couldn't keep my place, and I couldn't really get into it, especially with how incredibly descriptive the books are. Also it was for a book report, and as you know, book reports suck all the fun from anything you read. I'm a college grad now, and I'm having a much better time of it! I had nearly forgotten about the Wheel of Time, but then I got into reading Brandon Sanderson's work, and that lead me back to it.

I've read every book except 10, which was too dull to finish. Really looking forward to the last installment. Books 12 and 13 really picked up the pace and made me very excited to see how it all turns out. Shame about books 6-10, though. I think they turn a lot of people off the series.

To be perfectly honest, I think Brandon Sanderson is a better writer than Robert Jordan. Jordan dreamed up the world, but he also bogged it down with superfluous and redundant details. Since Sanderson took over, the writing has improved and the dialogue is better (which really benefits characters like Mat), though perhaps this is a product of everything speeding up as we reach the grand finale. Regardless of who's writing them, though, the action scenes have always been REALLY good in my opinion, no matter the quality of the rest of the writing.

I've been wondering how to adapt the books to film, and I think a TV series a la Game of Thrones would be the best option if the budget was available. You could cover one to three books a season, perhaps, giving ample time to cover all the major plot points and establish all the necessary lore, not to mention create a visual representation of the One Power which people will understand.

I just finished book three, and I have to say that almost all of the lead female characters are just awful people.

Arrogant, self-absorbed, self-righteous asshats. I loathe Egwene and Nynaeve, while I merely dislike Moraine and Elayne. And then there's the fucking men, who, when faced with this asshattery, generally only respond with "oh, women are so mysterious herpa derp I'll never understand them, derp". It's infuriating, because I'm clearly supposed to empathize with the women!

Not to mention the fact that at this point in the story, the "big three"[footnote]Nynaeve, Egwene and Elayne.[/footnote] seem to be the exact same character, just with varying levels of arrogance. Elayne and Egwene are almost interchangeable, while Nyneave is just such a colossal asshole that it's the only real thing that makes her stand out, in my mind.
Well all i can say is the girls get better eventually egwene is now one of my favorite characters, and try to hold out for Faile and berelain they are at least rather intresting

I have to agree with you on that one. Like a lot of others have posted, I made it up to "Crossroads of Twilight," skimmed "Knife of Dreams" & then just stopped. I loved the world that Jordan created too, as well as discovering it with these characters from a rural place who never dreamed of seeing all the different settings. But once the books became primers in the intricacies of Daes Dae'mar, I really stopped caring.

I have to say, though, that the series is special to me in a lot of different ways. It was one of the last extensive fantasy series I invested time & emotion into (the last being Janny Wurts' Wars of Light & Shadow. . .if she ever finishes it). It taught me the patience & endurance needed to take on the classic long epics of Southern & Russian literature. And Jordan was the first author whose signings nearby excited me.

I have never meet a single person before that read it, this makes me unbelievable happy. I intend to reread all of them before reading memory of light. Later on in the series I started disliking everyone except Mat. I guess I just got tired of them, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it

Read a decent pile of them when I was a teenager. Don't ever plan to go back to them - don't remember half of what I read, and like hell I'm rereading them - but I've heard good things about the guy who took over for Jordan.

Fuckin' terrible cover art, though. Jesus.

I've read them all.
And, Janjotat, there are several fan-sites devoted to it. There are tens of thousands of users between them, and even more that don't even use the internet.

Also, Book 14, the Final One. (At least, of the main-series) comes out Jan. 8th.

Its going to be epic.
And you can read the prologue and up to chapter 3, and I think chapter 13? Some free, some not.

I've heard of it, but no I've not read and I'm not likely to start anytime soon either. I've got too many other books series that I'd like to finish first which, due to my general lack of reading lately, probably wont happen soon either.

Im just re-reading the series now. First time around I got to book 10 then gave up. Remembering why I really dislike most of the female cast.

Yeah, I read parts of it. I thought it was really good from books 3-6/7. After that, however... euh...

Pretty much all the characters just became unlikeable (Rand, Perrin, all the women but Min and Brigette) or boring (min, Thom). The only character I still liked was Matt, and they didn't do nearly enough with him.

Long story short: Too many characters (almost none of them likeable), too many plotlines (few of them interesting), just too much BS.

Stopped reading.

Then my favorite author got picked to finish the series... That's a tricky situation.
I think Mat is the only reason anyone kept reading.

We got an inexplicably good FPS out of the series back in 1999, at least. Shame it came out at the same time as Unreal Tournament and Quake 3.

I read a sample of it and was bored almost instantly. I don?t know...maybe it gets better but the premise doesn't grab me. People keep praising it though so maybe I'll read it eventually.

It's worth reading "The Gathering Storm" and "Towers of Midnight". Firstly, Sanderson wrote most of them, which means the quality of writing improves. More importantly, shit gets real early on in "The Gathering Storm" and stays that way. Plot twists come thick and fast, there are some crazy action scenes, and several characters get moments of incredible badassery. It all got me pumped for the final installment.

I quit after book nine. And considering I was still in my teens when I read that book and I'm turning THIRTY this year, I think I made the right choice. Not to mention all that smoothing of skirts and "Oh Rand u so smexy, take me now u beast" that the females in the books did drove me up the flipping wall.

I did like Mat and Perrin though.
