The Darth Gun saved me many many times from Deathclaws and Rad Scorpions when I was near death. But I have to pick the Railway Rifle, I've got spikes a-plenty (metro lines for the ammo folks, makes sense doesn't), and well nothing beats nailing a head to a wall while hearing CHOO-CHOOOO!!!

As much as I like killing someone with teddy bears and dinner plates, my vote goes to the Dart Gun. It makes Deathclaws your ***** and makes raiders limp away only to get shot in the back.
Deathclaw Gauntlet Hands down. It looks cool,Ignores armor,and if you get lucky in Vats the killshot can send the ragdoll flying its truly a blast to use if you have the right skills buffed.
Only Schematics I've found are bottlecap mine and shishkebab and I dont really like either. I could buy the schematics for the Rock-it launcher but my big weapons skill is terrible.

Well, the custom weapon I've gotten the most use out of has got to be the Railway Rifle. I pick up insane amounts of ammo for that thing, and I just love the sound it makes. Choo-choo! Plus, it's a good non-sniper precision weapon, and is good for sticking people's heads to walls.
The Shishkebab has also gotten quite a lot of use, whenever I want to kill things without wasting ammo
Nuka Grenades pwn for battles with big nasties, but for regular combat I don't really think it's worth using them.

Honestly I barely made anything until I was getting bored with the game. The one I ended up using the most was the Deathclaw hand, on the off chance I felt like sneaking up on someone and tearing their head off. Shishkebob was a runner up for the same thing, though more hilarious.
That said I'm thinking I'll be picking up the dart gun for my next run through the game on evil.

Yeah but I can't build a sufficient amount of bottle cap mines from minefield alone.Assassinator said:
Besides, the power of bottle cap mines can sometimes be a disadvantage. I'll admit that I misjudged the blast radius and killed myself a few times.

As for me, must be the Deathclaw Gauntlet. I mean, it's just so awesome. Plus, as an added bonus, I and a few other people on this site have an inside joke about it. Say it with me:
