Image 1 would be quality if it was of higher quality, put some work into the textures, so they actually look like bullet holes. Maybe put in a background, have it as a wall, I imagine looking like the walls from Dust in Counter-Strike Source, that's the best way to describe it, so that the bullet holes will looking like bullet holes, then change the font saying 'Gameplay For' to a dark shade of green, I believe it would look good.

The first one, the second one doesn't catch my attention at all. If you're good with Photoshop may I suggest an alternative design? Try a back alley-looking neon lights type thing, just a suggestion.

If it was my group, i would find some thing iconic, like a char from a game that never had great graphics but has generally praised gameplay. or something jokey like 2d sonic beating 3d sonig with something heavy or something... just 10 sec ideas

You just need it to look neat and have an interesting font, maybe that looks a bit relevant too (you kind of have that with 3).
