I also didn't add Star Wars, or Dune or the like because these need to be sci-fi universes that had their roots in videogames.
Also, Star Wars is Fantasy. There is no science involved with that fiction.
I call bullshit. What were the spacecrafts and blaster rifles run on? Magic pixie powder?

Just because it didn't explain the science doens't mean there wasn't any.
I refer you to the fact that there is no sound or explosions in space. The docking bays were open right into space somehow, without sucking everyone and everything in the bay out into the cold vacuum of space. So I call bullshit on unrealistic crap. I'm not saying the whole Star Wars universe sucks, but it is far from sci-fi.

Star Wars is not fantasy. Star Wars is an epic space opera.
I will refer you to Episodes 1-3. Before those, I would have agreed with you. Besides, still fantasy. Space Opera's are usually sci-fi, therefore rooted in some form of science, and Star Wars has zero science involved.
Bleh, I have been outwitted.

I MUST RETURN TO MY CAVE OF SHAME!
It's okay, at some point we have all been suckered by Mr. Lucas.
Though can't you maybe consider it sci-fi after Lucas tried to give the Force a scientific explanation with the midi-chlorians and stuff?
-shudders- Ughh, don't say that word, makes me want to throw up

Fine, I'll go with Mass Effect. Even though I think the "No Star Wars" rule is stupid.

I'm going with Mass Effect because it has the hottest aliens after Star Wars. Nothing beats Twi'leks, but the Asari come close.

[sub]Don't judge me! I'm only human![/sub]
Exactly what I was thinking, except that the hot aliens come second after the overall awesomness of the universe.

Well, since I can't vote for Stargate, I'll go for Starcraft.

I thought of that, but it was such a stupid explanation of something that was suppose to be metaphysical that it still doesn't make any damn sense. It's like when in a Forgotten Realms book they state how something that works like magic is actually just a form of science, but it is completely outside the world of science it just doesn't matter. It is still a fantasy book.

Mass Effect.

The people who voted Half-Life boggle my mind. There's very little Sci-Fi about it, and even then what we do know is
A) Ill-defined and
B) Unimaginative

Its close between Mass Effect and Halo, both of which are actually very fleshed out, I can't decide. =(
