wait i was put on probation for this? "you realize camo is obsolete in a world that has ACTIVE camouflage (invisibility) space marines just dont need it cuz ambushes arent that big a deal to squads of space marines with endless morale and even if a squad is lost its not that big a deal it just means next time they go through that area they bring heavier guns." um why?
The imperial Gaurd (Average soldiers) use camo. Space Marines are like fuedal knights, and the imperial gaurd are just the footmen. They don't send Space Marines to board other ships or anything, all the conventional stuff is handled by the Imperials. Space Marines are like Knightly orders, think Templares during the crusades.
good point but this post was asking why the hell i was put on probation for writing that.
Because you were making multiple posts in a row.

Apparently you still haven't learned.

That gun would bounce off of space marine armor or chip it if it was a dead on hit and should it pierce a joint or something the wound would close instantly sorry but thats the way it is. and a nuke would kill only those in the direct blast zone (most of the heavier weapons in the 40k universe are bigger than nukes by far.)
Couple of points, A nuke generates a tremendous blast wave and heat wave, A 40k marine would be as melted as any other trooper, hed just be less dead outside of 600 metres. (Approximately for a tac nuke at battlefield yield.) What heavy weapons in the 40k universe are bigger than nukes exactly ? Given the tabletop numbers for most blast radi are woefully short as are the ranges of the weapons.

In fact according to the WH40k tents are tougher than Power Armour providing a base 6 save (18% or so for non game geeks), so in factulaity Quarter MAster Marine is greater than everyone because he has a big tent that is 18% Invulnerable to nuclear blasts. Whereas Power armour marine melts in the nuclear blast.

I hate to be a bubble burster as well but the Bolter is a stupid weapon as well. If it was in anyway realistic and fired the equivalent of launched grenades fine, but it fires needlessly complicated rounds that would be insanely ineffectual for a weapon of its calibre. Additionally the recoil would be huge unless the round was a ram jet which would waste yet more shell size.
But im not talking about the tabletop game. In the table tp game they nerfed marines giving them much worse stats then their history or mythology would suggest and i like to think of the mythology or stories more than the tabletop game seeing as the tabletop game has no actual aim or personality. And the bigger than nukes would probably be psyker powers capable of destroying worlds, orbital bombardment, and they use "nukes" that are made up of hundreds of OUR "nukes"

I think it was because you did it in 3 posts rather than just one. Just a guess any way.
Eh? i did? like i replied to too many or i like double posted? cuz if so that was a internet lag at my school.

Reminder that the topic is "which do you like". Not necessarily which are the demi-god biped shaped tanks with more organs than a human could ever need and an ability to wield sword-sized chainsaws. Unless, of course, that's what you like (no argument if you do, just saying).

Master Chief Spartan 117 (John), and the rest of the Spartans, are Navy soldiers, not marines. That said, Halo space marines are the only ones who pretty much have only skill to rely on as the others are all genetically or armor-suit enhanced. For me, they represent the true Marine and even human spirit. Fighting willingly to save their species against all odds. Take sergeant Johnson for example. As for the "grunt vs. 3 marines = grunt win" argument, how would you and two friends with small-arms weapons and minimal armor fare against an armor plated monkey with a plasma weapon? Bullet=bounce off alien armor, plasma=melt human armor.

Starcraft space marines are closer to the human side, but still have better armor and weapons. Also "the vast majority of marines were criminals or rebels who had undergone mandatory neural resocialization. Freed from any previous allegiances or ideologies, these fearless soldiers stood ready to defend Confederate interests with their lives." They were former criminals who were brainwashed into blindly serving. Not may favorite way of recruiting, but it gets the job done and they are, albiet synthetically, loyal. Also, only defending stranded outpost of criminals and mutants, not entire species.

Zone Raiders: I know little about them. But from what I've read; is there a distinction between marines that go into and fight in space and other planets, as opposed to sent into space to be called down to the same planet (which is what it seems that they do)?

40k Space marines dont have that great technology because it was all lost during the horus heresy. But other races do. On the table top space marines are powered down because no ones to play a game when all of the armys have nothing on a certain team. (you know why) But if we are to belive the stories they are almost brain washed warriors of the immortal god emperor. But yes marines dont use active camo for several reason.

1. they have will have a oxeygen machine thingo or jump pack on their backs.

2. If there is a sniper or ambush that they cant find they will either send in scout (who do use some kind of active camo. Or they will send in dreadnoughts (look em up)or they will just bomb the planet untill its just a merteor feild (they have done it before)

and just for the note incase your going to sat the spartans are better then them I have one question. WHY ARE THEY ALL DEAD?????

Point proven I belive.

Warhammer and Starcraft. Not only are they badass, they're also cannon fodder, so you have hordes upon hordes of pure badass-ness.

Historically, shipboard soldiers who engage in stuff like boarding actions and amphibious assaults are marines.

Turning the Marine Corps into its own specialized quick-strike force is a modern innovation, and not universal among all militaries.

It is true that the Marines are only recently a separate force than the Navy. Actually, the U.S. Marines are still under the Department of the Navy, but retain a separate rank system and chain-of-command (to a certain extent).

The Halo universe is set in the future, not the past. Currently the rank Master Chief is exlusive to the United States Navy. It isn't too hard to presume that it would stay with the Navy in the Halo universe, as in it there is still a distinction between Marines and Navy personnel.

That said, as much as quoting wikis makes me want to vomit:
[a href="http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Master_Chief_Petty_Officer"]Halo Wiki - Master Chief Petty Officer[/a]
Master Chief Petty Officer is the ninth enlisted rank of the UNSC Navy, and is a non-commissioned officer. It is equal in rank to Master Gunnery Sergeant and Sergeant Major in the UNSC Marine Corps. Master Chief Petty Officer ranks just above Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In informal settings, Master Chief Petty Officers are typically called "Master Chief" or "Chief."

Warhammer space marines would win in a fight with just about everything in existence, except Chuck Norris, and since the Master Chief IS Chuck Norris from the future, the Master Chief wins by default. GO 117!

But seriously, John, Linda, Sam, Grace, Fred, or any other Spartan really. I mean sure, they can't match the Warhammer Space Marines in terms of sheer strength, but they're faster, more agile, more resourceful, smarter, and, in John's case, luckier (hehe) than any other Space Marine I can think of.

I am actually surprised you didn't mention the Colonial Marine from Aliens
I am seriously surprised at how little they have been mentioned. These are the greatest marines that ever existed, space marines are barely human, Colonial marines are ordinary men and women in slightly advanced gear fighting xenomorphs that can climb walls, have acid blood and lay their eggs inside you. The also have face predators in AVP.

Seriously these are the guys you root for, human underdogs.

I don't like any Space Marines, they're all made out to be Alpha-Male brick warriors. Like honestly, nothing can hurt them, and the only reason they die is because of player-stupidity. I play Halo because I like killing aliens, I don't feel any attachment to the protaganist simply because he has no emotion what-so-ever. Faceless, generic trash. I feel more of a connection with the Arbiter, and he isn't even human.

Gears of War did the same thing, apart from whiney Dom moaning about his wife.
