I was going to say Picard, but since he's a bit of a pragmatist I don't think I'd make it very long as a redshirt if things'd get tough. I voted Sisko because he's lost loved ones before and will probably be a bit more squeamish about sending me to my death on an away mission.

Any of them, so long as they keep those Red Shirts the fuck away from me.
But I'd prefer Picard.

Who wouldnt want to serve on Deep Space 9? That place is freaking huge... much better than a normal Starship... Oh and Cisco is the freakin' Emissary!

I wouldnt want to be under Janeways command... first time a woman gets command of a starship and what happens? She gets lost! Although 7 of 9 is hot... and the Doctor is cool.

Although Jean-Luc Picard is absolutely fantastic as a TV charcter he is a bit intense and some of the things he does would be awkward to say the least.

And Shatner, *moves head as he says each word* he can go *waves arms* screw... *point at face* himself. :D

Serving under Kirk would probably be more exciting, but I'd rather answer to Picard - he's basically a Space Paladin.
Wow, space ninjas...how...never mind.

I put Picard in the poll but on reflection Archer

"Why Archer?" I hear you ask because you are apparently full of questions.

Well for one thing there was no arseing about with the Prime Directive. You did what you needed to do without worrying (too much) about anyone else. Also I think Archer's bridge crew is second only to Picard's.

Also: Picard's Enterprise could have wiped out the Xindi threat in a 2 parter. Enterprise took 2 series and thus there was a lot more involvement with the ship being out on it's own being repaired by the crew and not (like Picard) having to run away to a Starbase every time he takes an impact to the shield. Which the NX-01 didn't even have! It has polarized hull plating (something I never did get my head round understanding the concept of).

Sorry about that
I just feel Archer is an underrated captain

Sisko on DS9-He is one badass motherfu-shut yo mouth!-What? I'm just talkin about Sisko. He punched Q, made badass decisions, blackmailed Ferengi, and didn't take shit from Shapeshifters, Cardascians, or anyone else. He actually gave Starfleet a freakin backbone. Instead of holding hands and talking about feelings, he went out there and blew up shit. Sisko rocks!!

I find it's a tough call between Picard and Kirk.

Whilst Picard would be a better Captain and a fairer boss, I can't help but feel the atmosphere of his Enterprise is more elitist, and unless I was a high ranking Officer, I wouldn't get to personally experience any of the Picard goodness.

I'd just be a nameless nobody, fading into obscurity and a bottle of Romulan Ale in Ten-Forward, making a nuisance of myself by pestering Guinan to tell me space jokes, and trying to get Data to tell Worf 'blue' Bernard Manning type jokes, or call him archaic racist names, which would be be hilarious to me because neither of them would get it (Data, next time you see Worf, greet him with "Yo Dawg! 'Sup my ******!").

The Holodecks are a big attraction to serving under Picard, but they'll probably always be booked by Picard and his Officers, playing detectives and whatnot, plus I'd probably have my few Holodeck privileges revoked for being a drunk and trolling the robot.

On the other hand, despite the shittier technology and much greater risk of death, Kirk's Enterprise just seems a lot more fun, plus he had much better adventures, as this brilliant Youtube video highlights.

Yes, definitely Kirk, it would just be so totally surreal (actually serving on a 60's Technicolor starship), plus it would probably be constant 'shits & giggles' right up until I get eaten by some alien tree monster or something equally ridiculous.
Even then I'd get a kick out of my absurd demise, because unlike in Picard's elitist, hard working TNG era, I actually think I'd have half a chance of being a half-assed TOS crewman and becoming involved in some of Kirk's wacky adventures, even if I was just a Red Shirt.

I would go for Picard as well. He is calm, resolute, awesome and effective as a captain. I am not certain what position I would want.

I'd go with Janeway for the no shit apporach to dealings, but Archer for the fact that he seems the more "human" of that captains
