Rainbow Six looks like it could be interesting, but that's largely because it's so newly announced there's still potential for them to do new and interesting things, potential that may well not come to fruition. Even so, I enjoyed Rainbow Six: Vegas, and the way the game works is different enough than what I'm used to that I'm interested.

Wolfenstein: the New Order, it's better than all the titles listed. It's also out already! So you can play it now!

As for the actual list. They're mostly multiplayer orientated games. Those, generally, don't come out with interesting mechanics. The only one I could see being interesting is Doom, but that is more due to the state of the genre at the moment with it's regenerating health, pseudo realism and iron sights. Doom could be about just having fun shooting crazy demons and its ilk.

Does 'Destiny' even belong here? It isn't "upcoming" after all. Anyway:

-Doom: Meh. Never got into the series, and for FPS's of that era, I hold 'Marathon' as a superior example. What may have been shown at Quakecon is irrelevant as no-one who didn't go saw it, but based on what I read..."meh."

-Halo 5: Far too little is known about this for me to comment - at least with 'Doom' I have an idea of the playstyle. Besides, 343 poisoned the bucket with 'Halo 4' for me, so no, I'm not voting for this.

-Unreal Tornument: Don't care.

-Far Cry 4: I've only ever seen the intro trailer, but it was enough to pique my interest. I doubt I'll get it or any 'Far Cry' game in the near future, but for what the series is, and what it's meant to be, I think it looks like a solid entry in said series.

-Rainbow Six: Pretty much 'Far Cry', but less enthused. Happy for this genre to be back, but it's not a genre I've ever gotten into, so...yeah.

-Star Citizen: Not an FPS, and I'm wary of the game in general, so...yeah.

-Killing Floor 2: Never heard of.

So, yeah. One big "meh." I think of all the above options (not counting 'Destiny' as it isn't "upcoming"), I'd go with 'Far Cry 4'. Ask again when we know more about 'Doom' and 'Halo 5' and they'd probably be the most logical contenders for me. Main guideline for me is for an FPS to have a strong singleplayer element (hence the lack of interest in UT for instance).

The only fps I am remotely excited for is the upcoming Borderlands.

All of these look like shit. However, I voted for Rainbow Six Siege, because it has the word rainbow in it.

1. Unreal Tournament, it's the best multiplayer FPS and has been since 1999.
2. Far Cry 4, Far Cry 3 was amazing and if they do that in a new place I'm all for it.
3. Doom,I've enjoyed every game in the series so I'm sure I'll enjoy this new one.

No real interest in any of the others.

I've really been wanting a fast-paced arena fps for a while now, so the new Unreal Tournament is probably the better bet for what is 'best'. Time will tell if my bet pays off.
Especially if it has vehicles! I would love for some classic goliath on goliath action once again with buggies and their damn razer-blades doing front flips over your turret.

Funny how FPSs only ever get interesting when they steal all their mechanics from RPGs, an infinitely more intelligent and sophisticated genre for intelligent and sophisticated people.
I didn't realize intelligent and sophisticated people enjoyed playing antsy emo teenagers with bad dressing habits and ridicules hair who save the world with the power of friendship.

This is like saying which of the poo-poo's looks the most edible. Think I'm getting old, as the whole FPS genre looks so BORING these days!

...I miss you Metroid Prime.

Actually, the rebooted Doom has apparently taken some inspiration from Brutal Doom, so that alone makes it the most promising of the options.
Well, that's actually quite good news!

No fucking question it'll be Killing Floor 2. The amount of polish and refined mechanics they're putting onto an already fun gameplay mechanic on an already wildly popular game... it gun be good

Looking forward to the obscene amounts of gore and gun porn in that game.

I know, right?
Come back to us, baby.

Anyhow.

I'm pretty hyped for Doom. My fan card is a bit makeshift considering I only played the originals with the BFG edition but still, I love the series and news of a new one excites me.

Don't we know the most about Far Cry 4? I went with that because I know the most about that one and everything I know about it can be summed up thus:

Rhinoceros and War Elephants in an open-world. The only way to improve upon those things is to throw in jet packs.

i would say Halo 5 has the most potential. Halo 4 was a great game, despite being a disappointment for many people, but 343i hired a bunch of professional Halo players after it came out so they could make Halo 5's MP as good as possible. and they are also having a BETA this time around, which is a wonderful sign.

the single player is pretty much guaranteed to be really good, and we can expect all the extra features that the last few games had, such as forge and theater mode, and hopefully firefight will make a return.

Of those...tough choice, first person shooters are my favorite genre. I'd probably go with Unreal Tournament. I'll also give Halo 5 a shot for old times sake, Halo was my first shooter. I'll wait and see the general reception with Star Citizen. But I guess fuck me for enjoying the easiest genre in games.

Don't come to your house and shit on what you like....

i used to like them a lot but yeah they have lost their appeal these days, i guess far cry 4 but 3 annoyed me, the locals would give you free and sell you state of the art weaponry yet apparently no one in the entire place has heard of buying or selling bags

DooM: I know nothing about it for sure at this point so I can't say for sure, but if its anything like Brutal Doom I'm in.
Destiny: Already bought it, having fun so far but haven't had a huge amount of time to play.
Halo 5: 4 was disappointing and I'm not getting an Xbone anyway.
UT: Not in a million years.
FarCry 4: looks like FC3 with new stuff. Considering how much I loved FC3 I'm totally fine with that.
R6: siege: eehhhhhh. my excitement hinges enterily on whether its built solely around MP or if they bother to give it a really good Rainbow Six 3 style SP mode.
Star Citizen: I don't care about this game. Like at all. And is there even any actual shooting? I was under the impression that the first person parts were just for walking around, not combat.
Killing Floor 2: I didn't know this was happening, but I'm glad it is. I just hope they do a bit better on the balance this time. And possibly crack down on the rampant fun destroying hacking. And that a horrible easymode map like Doom2 doesn't become super popular this time.

So I vote "all of them except Star Citizen, UT, and Halo 5"

Also as a side note: This thread is a crystallized example of why I refuse to call myself a "gamer". It has nothing to do with sexism or the industry "leaving me behind" and everything do do with that identity being increasingly associated with bilious, smug, elitist, keyboard vomit, and less and less with actually *SHOCKHORROR* enjoying things.

I'll go with doom, mostly because i like single player games and i have a feeling that this one will deliver. Farcry would be my second pick, but i'm not expecting too much from it, 2nd installment was horrible, 3rd was ok.

Going for halo 5 with Far Cry 4 behind it and then DOOM, I can't give a rats ass about the Stalker series though.

Well, I haven't played any of them since they are to be released [/pedantic]. BUT, I am hyped for Doom. I really, REALLY hope it takes after Brutal Doom. Just a fast-paced, fun, gory and cut-throat shooter with great graphics.
