...Anyway, me and my friends planned to man the top of the church in our town, which is huge by the way. Sit there, with a sniper, a fuck load of ammo and make the most out of it.

well yea it is the zombie apocalypse (undead dear ones)
but i meant from starvation or that youl run out of bullets or that a massive herd will tear the place down (remember youre shooting that means u are atracting zombies...)

The church is actually 100 metres away from a supermarket! We would send squads to go and raid the place!

Also, everything will have a silencer on it ><

and the super market WILL run out of supllies fast if it will be stuff geting bad you guys eating everything or another group raiding the place it will happen
and if youre in a big city (if you are...) there will be to many zombies to snipe out in order to cross a main street (again you have to) safely

if that a small town where did you get the equipment? where do you restock on bullets? and how manny other groups are there? how many of them unfriendly or insane? what about your budies? are they all trust worthy?

There is a gun shop around 9 miles away, so we would go there before, stock up on shotguns, crossbows, ammo etc...
Not sure how many other group there are but i'll assume the town would be pretty empty because it was fled by people wanting to cross the border.

Stone (the town we live in) has the odd one or two crazy people, but we could just shoot em, then use them as bait for the Zombies as a decoy perhaps.

Our group will be a damn trustworthy group. If all else fails I still got my best mates to gun along side with. ;D

you cant know who goes and who stayes you must assume 50% of the town is still somwhere around (alive) and that 5% of the town is insane by the loss of theyr loved ones or something else a psycopath can convinse you to trust him (thats what they do) and it can always be one of your pals...

true... but i dont think that would have worked... my guess zombies do not use theyr eyesigt rather than theyre ears and nose to locate theyr pray...

The fact that something uses its other sense to find prey dosn't make it more dangerous. If anything it can make them less-effective hunters due to the fact that those senses can be very easily tricked. E.G Throw some vinegar about to hide your scent. Sound you've got me there but with a bit of effot you can work around it.

Also, if you think that it would be overrun. Why is it that a well positioned and well prepared sniper can almost indefinatly hold-up a platoon of well trained people?

i didnt say zombies were good hunters (they arent they are teriblle) i meant the specific system bill is using in zombyland (greatest comady ever btw) is just not going to work...

and if by the overrun you mean the guy said he is going to be on the churchs top he will run out of bullets very soon and there is only one gun shop in his entire town wich will run out two days in...

Why is it that a well positioned and well prepared sniper can almost indefinatly hold-up a platoon of well trained people?

Because people are scared of being killed;
one shot well placed can scare a whole platoon into hiding and firing wildly at everything. Do zombies feel fear? Fear of being killed?? I doubt it so they would still come forward making the lone sniper ineffective and probably dead...

ZombIEland was excellent, I'm still tossing up whether or not Shaun of the Dead was better than it though...

Bullets can be gotten very easily, and in a large quantities. I know for a fact that I could easily wipe out my street (Possibly the suburb) and still have spare rounds. Worst case scenario, you just go out further. It's not like zombies are particularly hard to out-wit (Well typically at least)

The well trained sniper works because of fear. A platoon can be scared by a well placed shot and start firing at their own shadows but do zombies feel fear?? I doubt it so your well placed sniper may kill a few zombies but in the end he's gonna be over run with them unless he runs away...[/quote]

Granted though, you make a very good point, but a sniper could still wipe out a large portion of men through accuracy and marksmanship alone. (Under the right circumstances yadda yadda yadda)
