Ugh, I can't be bothered to respond to all of the anti-Nintendo fanboys, especially when all their arguments are the same. It gets tiring. Still, I'll respond to one who actually had an intelligent response (even if it was the same old argument in disguise) and another whose hackneyed, blatantly Yahtzee-stolen post particularly pissed me off.

Enjoy.

Apparently we have different definitions of the word "new". Nintendo's idea of new seems to be either churning out sequels to existing franchises or resurrecting old franchises.

Still, if that's what the fans want.
Name one developer who does not churn out sequels.

Congratulations. That is such a clever argument! Nobody's ever blamed Nintendo for rehashing old games before! How observant! So much thought must have gone into that comment!

Seriously man, Nintendo just does what every developer does. Every single developer just makes sequel after sequel. Microsoft's big titles were a new Halo and a new Gears. Sony was all about LBP2 and Killzone 3. No company (except the indie ones) are actually making new games.
You may be semi-surprised but I do agree with you in part. There is no denying that sequels make the gaming world go around at the moment and my two favorite games this year so far are Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption (although less of a direct sequel). So, hey, sequels are not bad and are sometimes warranted (unless you're Bioshock 2, but that's another topic entirely).

I'm more baffled by their resurrection of long dead franchises, it just seems lazy and a "cheap-pop" to Nintendoids who'd slap their money down for anything the big N produce. BUT I have been snooping around lots of other topics and people genuinely seem to want another Kirby or Donkey Kong Country. So either my tastes are out of step with the majority or I am the lone voice crying in the wilderness saying "do we really need this?"
I'm willing to accept either eventuality.
I agree with you, man.

While I am aware all companies keep sending in sequels, remakes, and rehashings (Hell, I'm still waiting for a new part/remake of FF7), I don't think it's that good of a thing. Bring up Killzone, Mass Effect, etc, as I bring attention to Mario, and I shall show you that I never said Microsoft and/or Sony are right either. What S&M are trying to do right now, is copy Nintendo a bit more and make some of that money by shelving out some old favorites. I mean, I wanted a new Sly Cooper, but we get a collectors pack that is 3D, and Twisted Metal (which I loved back in the day, but I had forgotten it existed).

So, I will repeat after you, my good man.

Do we really need this? :/

Yeah, I can see what you're saying. The thing is though, people have been asking for these games for years. In fact, one of the main complaints I've heard Nintendo get over the past few years was how they've been ignoring their main franchises and focusing too much on casual stuff. I guess you can't please everyone, but Nintendo, by doing this, is making most of their fans happy. But I can definitely see why you would want new stuff.

I'd have to say Sony won it for me personally as I'm not into the whole Zelda/Mario/Metroid C+P.

Portal 2, Steam coming to PS3, InFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2 and the fun little games for Move stole the show for me.

As was said at E3 by the company Nyko; Move is like combining Kinect and the Wiimote together.

/fanboy.

Also liked BioWare's brief, but nice Old Republic announcement and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood gameplay.

Edit: Also agreeing with that picture of the three indistinguishably similar shooters. (Give me unrealistic shooters like Bulletstorm any day over those ones.)

very much in agreement about The Old Republic, even though I was alway leary of MMO's(because soul sucker WoW was the best known) but I may have to pony up the cash and pay to play The Old Republic

Its a 3D DS which doesn't need glasses... Meanwhile Sony and MS looked like they are playing catch up both in the 3D and the motion controls categories.

and the ones i had been looking forward to (nintendo's) were not that great (im looking at you ZELDA!)
ubisoft on the other hand unvieled just enough about Assassin's creed brotherhood to keep me interested

this too! but that doesn't mean the new MoH will be any good
No, but we won't know until it comes out. Besides the ps3 version comes with an HD version of Frontline which is my favorite WWII game.

I don't think anyone did anything incredible this year, Microsoft definitely loses because of kinectimals though. Fuck that looks dumb. I guess Nintendo won because of a new Zelda.

Microsoft's presentation was a joke. Nintendo did alright, witht the possible exceptions of mentioning Just Dance and the little hardware malfunction during the LoZ: Skyward Sword demonstration. From Sony's press conference I only caught Kevin Butler's speech as well as Gabe Newell's. They were both fine (even if Kevin Butler was a little over the top) but I find it strange that Portal 2 is coming to the PS3. Wasn't Valve pretty anti-console before?

What is your avatar?

OT: Yeah, I have a friend that is for sure going to get it too. He also traded in two working, completely fine Xbox's yesterday just to get the new one. He is ridiculous.

Nintendo. The 3DS actually works, Wiimotion plus works great with the new Zelda game, OOT REMAKE, Tons of other new games (Kirby's Epic Yarn looks like pure AWESOME) and all kinds of lovely things. All Microsoft did is rename Natal, and at times I wonder if Sony was there to do anything but announce that they still have a console exclusive with Infamous 2.

EDIT: I am aware that Microsoft had some games they announced, but here's the thing: We completely expected each and every one of them. There was nothing surprising or shocking about them at all. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood? Sure it looks awesome, but we all saw it coming. I will concede that everything Nintendo hashed out was also a sequel of some kind, but here's the kicker: few of them were expected. Sure, Kirby is an old franchise, but we haven't seen him around for a long time. Nobody saw him coming at E3!

It's nine times bigger than "LOOK GUYS WE HAVE MOTION CONTROL TOO HURR"

Definitely between Nintendo and Sony, I was completely disappointed in everything from the Microsoft conference. Games wise it was most likely Nintendo, they unveiled the 3DS, a new Kid Icarus game, and the next Zelda game, where as sony just showcased its "Move" and had an awesome announcement of Twisted Metal with some gameplay of Killzone 3. Microsoft...had what...Halo Reach gameplay and Kinect...boring >.<.

I'll get you next time Nintendo....NEXT TIME!

well, if you think about pure shock value. Nintendo wins hands down. everyone already knew that Microsoft was going all in with Natal/Kinect, and all of Sony's big hitters were leaked early; ie Killzone 3 in 3d was announced a few days prior, and Infamous 2 was the most recent Game Informer cover story.

Nintendo won because from all accounts of everyone who tried it. the 3ds acutally works like they said it would. plus... cmon. Kid Icarus?
