Is it some sort of ironic hipsterism or is this something anime does to people?

Nothing ironic about it. The new My Little Pony show (subtitled Friendship is Magic), is genuinely GOOD.

...I know, I was surprised too. Just check out a couple episodes. It's funny, well-written, pleasant to look at, and wonderfully voiced. It's the complete package.

1. No, trust me I thought so awhile back as well until I made a thread asking what was with all the Pony Avatars and then became one.

At the moment, Rarity but really, I haven't seen enough of Fluttershy to officially be like FAV-FAV-FAV. My GF for example is more of a Fluttershy so I guess she wins by default. But as for Rarity, She's my current favorite due to the episode in which she's kidnapped by Kobolds.

Ok, just kidding. If it's a genuinely good cartoon (and I know there hasn't been many lately) then I guess there is nothing wrong with killing time with it. Still I think the avatars are a bit too much.
