Pakistan v India. They have fought 4 wars since 1947 and as recently as 2002 they have been on the verge of war. The likely story goes something like this. A Pakistan backed Islamic terrorist organization launches series of large scale attacks in India. Indian public opinion swings in favour of large scale military action. India launches 300000 troops across the border, Pakistan appeals to its ally China. China worried that Indian success could mean, not only their main rival for global economic dominance gets stronger but their own territorial gains made during the 1962 Chinese invasion of India come under threat. China begins moving troops towards the border. India seeing the threats uses her navy to block oil supplies going to China from the middle east. China finding its oil supply blockaded but with 1/2 million troops a few hours drive from the central Asian oil fields, mainly controlled by India's ally Russia. Now you have 2 minor nuclear powers and 2 major nuclear powers shooting at each in very quick space of time.

...Uhhhh what did you think the other wars were? Fun vacations for rowdy young men? Economics and politics always cause one group or another to butt heads eventually, and then they call their friends for help and it all becomes a Wild West Saloon minus a piano player.
I'd have to guess it would be in the Middle East, and the US would get drawn into the mess. I don't think it would be America vs. China. Sometimes I wonder, even hope (yeah sick I know) for that, but I think we're too involved economically. I believe China's biggest threat is going to come from their own pissed off people. If anything they might even end up on our side. Russia? Mmmmmmm maybe. Probably end up with whoever can benefit them the most one way or the other.
I'd have to guess it would be Israel vs. Someone, or Pakistan vs. someone then the US gets involved.
WW3 ehm not sure who would start it but USA, China, India, Russia, Pakistan, Iran and most of Africa (and of course EU has to be involved but the "unification" is not that stable at the moment) sure will be involved... And betting Americans will be playing really hard on the "we're the good guys" card...

I don't see a true World War actually happening. But because America and China are the two superpowers, they would have to be involved in some way.

North Korea, because they're crazy. But WW3 should not sound threatening in this case. South Korea would completely wipe the floor with North Korea's ass by the time any other country has even got the chance to get their aircraft carriers wet.
China because... Well it's China. They're scary as shit. But they do depend HEAVILY on the US, UK, lots of other western countries for almost all their economy, so I dunno.

China will demand Russian natural resources, they'll refuse, they'll go to war, Russia will be overthrown by ultranationalists or communists in a revolution, ban together with china to take over the world or just try it on their own...or like I'm hoping for Canada and Denmark.

I had some silly joke about how the Great Rum Shortage brought these two countries to war...but now I've just lost my train of thought at that revelation.
In all seriousness: Possibly North Korea vs South Korea; we've seen far more bloody and violent wars break out in the Middle East since WW2 than anything today. The only way that shit is going to get serious is if some terrorist cell nukes a major city and manage to drag one of the big Arabic players into the mess as a scapegoat....cripes, did I just accidentally write a Tom Clancy novel there? I'm sorry.
Anyway, China has assets in North Korea, and I shouldn't have to explain how in deep South Korea is with the US government. Shit will get hot very quickly if North Korea manages to do something really REALLY stupid, like nuking Japan or South Korea.

Since there was no other, i put America (should really be America and UK since UK follow america everywhere..) and china, but i believe it will be the UK vs Australia after an argument over the ashes (along with the other sports us and the Australian's clash at, rugby is another example).
