Next week on the escapist, a "Why all the hate on 'Why all the hate on...' threads?"
I had a good chuckle at that, thank you.

I started one when i first got here, before there were badges, namely just to get my name out there. it was cool, but it inevitiably got derailed and even then, i only started it because there were "ask a girl/boy" threads popping up all over

Jeez, there's so many "Why all the hate...?" threads I'm not surprised that there's now a " 'Why all the hate on' Why all the hate...?" threads.

I find that I do dislike the "why all the hate?" style threads, as more often than not the thing which the opening poster has decided is heavily hated is only based on what they saw 5, maybe 6 people say.

I remember someone started a thread based on a supposed hatred for Ocarina of Time. So I searched the forums for the words "OoT hate" and came up with two results, one of them being me proclaiming that I was going to search for those words.

for Gods sake not another one!!! I really hope these type of threads stop soon.
Wow. What a little speck of gold that was.

(second part of the comment deleted pending a sudden realisation, but the first comment still stands.)

The 'ask a' threads annoy me since you can't speak for everyone in a certain group. It's pretentious and short sighted to think you can represent many people.
The 'Why all the hate on..' threads are blatant badge whoring. Also they are usually just repeating an already done-to-death thread.

I have to say it wasn't that future scrying, it was more like one of those sneaky self-fulfilling prophecies (see Oedipus). If I hadn't said it this thread probably wouldn't exist.

Which means that I have powers to affect the future...
Fear me... fear me!

Because they waste the space on our forum. The first one is always fine because its new and original but any more after that just piss people off.
Yeah? Well FAQ you! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.76446]

And on a serious note, I find some to be quite fun, others to be facepalmingly annoying.

Huzzah for Badge whoring keeping these forums alive. Whats better than hundreds of the same threads where the OP posts constantly to keep them alive just for a badge? A forum without badges perhaps? Omggz yeah another post! Soon I can have another badge. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay so I get a bigger E-peen!

Honestly, a lot of these "Ask a..." threads are simply flame wars waiting to erupt because they are on stupid topics such as religion/politics/sexuality/etc etc. Making a thread like that is just BEGGING for trouble. I had to do some serious resisting to ignore the religion threads defending their horrible horrible cults.

Honestly I don't like badges, there a nice bonus and incentive to post on the forums but they don't interest me. I generally don't post, I just read the comments and opinions of others.
