I'm not buying it. I've never really been into Call of Duty much and MW2 really left a bad taste in my mouth. The campaign was short and the multiplayer fundamentally broken. I know Black Ops is being developed by Treyarch but lets face it. They're not going to be much different.
This. The only reason I might get it, is if my friends get it... maybe.

I'm sorry I just couldn't not vote for the last option.
It is quite strange how the second highest rated poll after im not buying it is an Offspring lyric.

I don't fall into any real category there - mainly to play with my friends list, rebalancing and of course zombies.

Plus I was getting rid of medal of honour so had the money back to spend
First, I just have to point out that it's ironic you're getting rid of medal of honour while your avatar is a picture of Danger Close...second...is anybody else scratching their heads about the two men sharing the umbrella? :p
...Dam you sir. Yeah I had to change my avatar since like 3 people copied it and saw that and used it. But yeah I should change it. And yeah that is a bit fishy...

my primary reasons are not listed in the poll..

I buy the game because they have listened to the PC-consumers and made a slight shift in focus, re-allowing us the dedicated servers and future modtools, and not just giving us a sh--y console port.

i think it is overhyped. a lot of people will be disappointed. and (it has been said by some smart one: "MW2 left a bad taste in my mouth". worst game i ever bought except for some silly rollercoaster game
also: if you like killing zombies, buy left4dead ffs.

I've learned my lesson after buying MW2

But still im not sure, maybe i'll buy it when the game itself won't have cut out content (for sake of DLC bullshit), decent plot and multi...but nah we'll see

For one, it's on my nephew's wish list. For two, if he loves it, I'll likely pick it up because so far, they are the highest quality FPS I've ever seen on a console.

I can see reason behind all that, and even agree with you.

Though, at some point I question myself: What is it _that_ new they couldn't fit in with a bigger patch? This is the bigger problem that, from my perspective, kills CoD. It's an unending and expensive stream of minor changes that has loses any value the day it is bought.

EDIT: It only makes me think I'll be fcked over again, as always. The same way as with MW2 - I'll dislike it and they will announce an another "release that fixes the issues". Yeah, right. Learn to use patches.
An interesting question, but I don't think that it's that hard to answer for BO. It's set in a completely different setting and thus a completely (and hopefully not as wanky) story, customisation is radically different, a lot of different gamemodes, dedicated servers, multiplayer bots (yay practice!), re-balanced and somewhat different killstreaks, perks and weapons.

All in all it sounds more than enough to warrant a totally new game, one that can hopefully make me forget about MW2.

As for your edit, that's why I'm probably going to wait a bit before I'll actually get it. I want to be sure that isn't the case, or at least not as much as with MW2.
Yes. But about the patching... my rant's mostly about the small things, not the story/new weapons/maps. Could have easily fixed all of that. Even then... other companies (well, Valve) are known to add whole modes through patching even a year later, too. So it's still a load of crap and vomit coming from their side.

Not putting eggs in same basked any soon.

Since it had the option, I will not be buying Black Ops, and I will tell you why.

I will not be buying Black Ops because Activision is publishing it, and the CEO of Activision is Robert "Bobby" Kotick. I do not wish to support that man with my money, even if it's only a paltry $60 compared to the million's he'll make off of everyone else. As a result, I am pretty much "boycotting" Activision, I guess you could say. I will not buy any of their products until either Kotick is removed or cleans up his act. This may result in me missing out on some great experiences, but that's my loss.

However, I do understand that other people are very excited for the game, a few of my friends included. I wish no ill towards you all for wanting to buy Black Ops, it genuinely looks like a nifty game. There is absolutely no reason why you guys shouldn't get the best bang for your buck.

And so, with this, I wish all of you who are purchasing Black Ops a good game. I, personally, will not be purchasing it for my own reasons and you will be purchasing it for your own, and that is perfectly fine. I'll probably play the game with my friend, split-screen and whatnot, or borrow it if he gets it for PS3.

Enjoy your game. I mean that in the most sincere way I can.
You know the fact that you are able to still say everyone else has fun with it and know even though you're gonna miss out makes me respect your personal boycott. Nicely done.
Thank you, I appreciate it. While I personally think that Activision (specifically Kotick's) practices and potential exploits are despicable and unethical, I'd be lying to myself if I said that Black Ops didn't look awesome in terms of gameplay. People want to play this game and I can't blame them. I don't want to sound like a troll trying to ruin everyone's fun, but I do want to explain my stance so that others may understand where I'm coming from.

If just 1 person is educated through me, and possibly "joins" this boycott-ish thing whatever it is, then I'd say my job is complete. This goes for all Activision products, DJ Hero 2 comes to mind. It's a shame that a unique IP is coming out, yet I can't enjoy it because of the company behind it.

That, and I've never been one for competitive multiplayer, co-op and single player is more my thing.

Haha, haha, no.

Quickscoping will never die, so long as there are sniper rifles, there will be quickscopers, trust me.

Im getting it because it'll be my first COD game, im trying not to think about the fact that its activision and im jumping on the bandwagon but, I do like the look of it, it looks fun and frankly I really like the sound/look of the single player campaign.

I love Bad Company 2, so im getting Black Ops so add a bit of variation between FPSs
Im still now sceptical about what it'll be like, im not getting too hyped for it, but yeah, I think it looks good.

Because I finally played World at War recently. And when I heard Reznov was supposed to be in Black Ops, my decision to get it was confirmed.

I'm gonna rent it on gamefly, because, and I'm not kidding, in the trailer they play "gimme shleter" by the Rolling stones, and that is my favorite song. I wouldnt actually pay for it but if that song actually plays in-game it would make me smile.

Ive pre ordered Black Ops and I personally am looking forward to playing the arse off it. Im buying it because I believe that the balence issues have somewhat been balanced, and COD games to me have always been fundementally good shooters (air support rape of thy gods aside).

So for those of you buying Black Ops, what are your main reasons for buying it?
Im curious as to how the hell there is no because it looks like a good game option. Myself im getting it because it looks like it will be a good game. They are trying lots of new and different things all at once. Plus several of my friends are getting it including some that live a few hours away.
Theres a because its a CoD game option which covers that. Plus theres no dedicated servers option on the poll, i would have included them if i could.
