Poll: Why are you Single?

All of the girls in this town are on the exact other end of the spectrum when it comes to girls I like. As in, I want girls who are this and this and this etc, but the girls here are all the opposite of what I'm looking for in a partner.

I want a respectable, caring, cute girl who loves all manner of hugs, is at least smart enough for me to not have to dumb my speech down or talk slowly, and doesn't smoke or get drunk like a ************. Instead, I currently get to choose from an entire town full of uncouth morons with a penchant for all manner of drugs as well as smoking and drinking on a more-than-regular basis, whose capacity for fidelity is extremely questionable, and who would much rather have sex when all I want to do is lie there and cuddle.

My standards are merely moderate, which makes it even sadder that they're simply all unfit for me. I cannot envision myself being with any of them 6 months from the relationship's inception, let alone 2 years later. And I'm not lowering my standards, because quite frankly I'm not a quitter. The girls in the general area are abominable; they're nothing special in the looks department and are all incredibly unattractive in terms of personality.

tl;dr All the girls in this town aren't anywhere near good enough for me, and I can do far better than them.

I've pretty much given up on trying to find anyone. I can't find somebody that actually wants to be a good friend with me. I have never had a girl show even remote interest in me...aside from one distant friend I have.
I guess it is because I'm not attractive, confident, interesting or anything like that. Plus I'm overly nice which makes me even more boring.

I don't put myself out there enough, and most women around my area are single/divorced with kids before they're 20. I don't want to raise another guy's kids, that would mean he'd be in the picture too, and I'm not looking for a relationship with a woman and her ex boyfriend(s).

I guess my problem is that pickin's are slim, and the ones that are available and aren't dragging around 5 kids from at least 4 different guys before they're even 25 expect a guy to have a lot of money to make them happy, and I'm what they call 'poor folk'.

Doesn't help that most of the time I get hit on by married/involved women as well.

As someone whose been around though, I have this to offer: 1. There is a lid for every pot, and 2. Nice guys finish last.

I just don't know any date-able guys. I love the little island I live on but there is no place to meet guys. I went to the bar for like 6 months with female fried. The bar was almost exclusively populated men my father's age so I stopped going. Even on the net all I can find are guys who at least 3 hours away and you have to take a ferry. That really kills causal getting to know someone.

Had 1 girlfriend, got all that I wanted out of the way - she was too much and too little in more ways than I care to put up with so I chose to stop it.

Not planning on another relationship anytime soon... that might change given the right circumstances, but I wouldn't know when they crop up since now I'm in a mixed uni and I've been in a boys only school for 7 years >.>

I'm just picky. I don't make a big deal about not having a girlfriend, but I would like one. Some of my mates say I am picky, but others say I'm fine my expectations aren't that high. Problem is, when I like someone, I either scare them off or wait too long to make a move and they've moved on

This is for everyone who say they have low self-esteem: isn't just about everyone on escapist a gamer? I haven't played against anybody whose character wasn't confident enough to try to blow me away. When I play I yell and taunt and praise the people that play against or alongside me. You just gotta take that persona out of gaming and apply it to the real world.

I'll go for too ugly, fat, weird and pretty shitty self-confidence too. Asking a girl out only to be told No a week later and ignored for a month does that.
There have been a couple of people interested but the feeling wasn't mutual so I said no.

Also, I seem to be considered a freak by the public at large.
