Given your OP and your poll options, let me just say: bullshit. Your "curiosity" boils down to essentially "what the hell are you all thinking?"

So yes, I'd say "let people have their own opinions" is a perfectly valid response...though admittedly I'm a little too polite to follow up with stfu.

Because it takes the audience seriously as adults, more so than most Hollywood blockbusters. also, Yaoi!

On the other hand, I've only found a few yaoi titles that took their audience seriously as adults (in all but one way). They can get pretty damned silly at times. I'd comment on yuri titles, but...I honestly don't know very many. Maybe because it's so ubiquitous that devoting a whole series to the concept of girl-on-girl is tyically pointless.

You could also try famous anime girls, if you think all that's going to come up is hentai, I suppose. Or, search anime first, find a name of a girl from a famous anime, and then search her. 90% of the time you'll get big knockers. It's a staple of the genre, whether you're willing to admit it or not. It's a staple of video games, too, yet no one rushes to defend it there.

The narrative structure is what attracts me to any novel or movie or whatever. Every single anime I have been exposed to (probably... 10 different or so) has an absolutely attrocious story line, often revolving around the already worn out premise of: Good guys fighting bad guys with guns/swords/gunswords/fists/robots to save the world from evil. Whoop-de-fricking-do.

I grant thats probably just the violent ones, but why would I watch any other kind? I don't give a crap about the inter relationships of pixel people. Why would I? If I want that I'll watch any sitcom.

Oh and while its sort of applicable, the anime porn stuff is just porn for virgins. Yeah, I've seen a little bit of it and its completely retarded.

Really, I don't think all anime girls should have big breasts, but they shouldn't all have small breasts just because some people object to breasts, either.

Okay, on topic now. I like anime because I find it entertaining. That's all I can really say. I never watched it before, then thanks to recommendation on this site I decided to watch Elfen Lied (awesomeness incarnate) and Hellsing (also great). Now I've developed a great liking for anime in general and will be watching the entirety of Death Note in one go as soon as I can find the time. I find it enjoyable, just like I find gaming enjoyable, or watching Mock the Week enjoyable. That's all I can really say on the subject.

Because it has some mature, complex and adult storylines in an animated form. Which is harder to find in non-anime. It's also often repetitive and filled with stock characters and so welcomes Mary Sue fanfiction. Many fans have deluded themselves into thinking that anime is great instead of there being great animes. There is also this strange belief that eastern Asia and Japan in particular is the promised land and everything that comes out of there is infinitely better than things made by people with round eyes.

Animé isn't that widely loved. There are as many, probably more, detractors than lovers.
Also it is good for a lot of reasons.
The storylines are often better than other TV shows (deathnote, Code Geass)
You can do things you can't do with live action.
Also, a lot of the artwork certainly doesn't look like it's by 6 year olds (Hellsing)
Violence? Have you ever watched a Hollywood film? Atleast it's stylized and often well scripted.

Excellent point and well stated. I think that there might be a difference of opinion when it comes to what constitutes 'large breasts' but I think C-cup and up is pretty large when it appears on a whole cast and genre. Only are they large they are very often bouncy and stupidly round and not subject to the reality of mammary tissue at all. Also, hentai is a legitimate genre of anime and what appears in it is every bit as valid a criterion to praise or condemn the art form as a whole as shojo, shounen, or any other genre.



Edit: I forgot to mention the rest of the proportions, the leg to torso ratio is huge as is waist to bust. Making the breasts look even larger than they already are.
