In the worst case, it will be the Saturn.

It may start a decline, but it won't be the final nail in the coffin. Nintendo is just at to high a high right now to be destroyed by one bad console release.

The end is near for ALL dedicated consoles, sure, but the WiiU won't be the death of Nintendo.

The cancer? Maybe if they really screw it up, but not the death.

Of course Sega only really got the Santurn that went down the path to the Dreamcast just because they couldn't get any big hits or get Sonic onto the system. Games make consoles failures or successes.

Wow you sure are QUICK TO ASSUME you know everything. First of all when did I say Nintendo was not a big company? Secondly I never once opened my mouth about anything failing. You just ASSUMED I did. So OBVIOUSLY you can't read my mind. Let me give you an example. McDonald's serve millions of people a day but because of that fact, doesn't mean that the quality of their food is better than that of Burger King, Sonic, Carl's Jr or In-N-Out Burger. How big is Nintendo anyway since you keep mentioning it anyway? Is it PlayStation or Microsoft big? Or bigger than both? Are referring to popularity or just money? Because when people are unsure about the popularity of a system, they sure do love to talk numbers and sales.
I don't assume I know everything. I know I don't know everything.

First things first, I never said you said anything. I wrote "people" as in "people".
When someone says "People do bla bla bla" or "people don't bla bla bla", he means random people, some people or people related to the point of the post. In this case, people who say that Nintendo will shut down if the Wii U flops.

McDonald's serving food and comparing it to other fast food restaurants has nothing to do with my post nor with this topic at all. I don't see anything that you can compare it to. The number of sold burgers doesn't show the quality of the food, but it shows the number of costumers. If McDonald's sells 4 times more than the other, it means that McDonald's has more costumers and potentially more money if the prices are similar or the number of sold units if big enough to compensate for the price difference. (if I understood correctly why you brought this into the conversation)

I never said Nintendo is bigger or better than other companies. I said Nintendo is big.
I didn't compare it based on the numbers of sold systems. I just stated the fact that a company which sells so much is big.

I am "quick to assume" because you quoted this:

OP, how can I take this thread seriously when you think that your opinions are facts?

People obviously have no idea how huge Nintendo is.
and said I'm a hypocrite.

If you say I am a hypocrite based on that quote, there isn't much to assume. There is just one logical conclusion. I tell OP that his opinions are not facts jet I use my opinions as facts. But the problem is that I didn't state my opinion, but a fact. Nintendo being big is a fact. I don't know the exact numbers so I can't write them. But I know that the numbers are bigger than those of the rival systems. Search on Wikipedia if you need the exact numbers. But being an international company that sells millions of systems is enough proof for me that it is a big company.

By "big" I mean big as in the whole company. Number of employees, income, number of created games, sold systems, owned development teams...

Sega was quite arcady, it had sonic but people already have their opinions on that franchise, i believe Shenmue crippled them aswell and it's quite a niche game. Nintendo however have their Mario franchise still scoring high, zelda still high, people wouldnt be as excited for sonic 1 in 3d as they were for ocarina of time.

N3ds hasn't done well which must hurt and it's a gamble on the nintendo tablet idea, atleast if the dreamcast vmu wasn't in use you didn't notice, this is a big screen and will be a bigger prob when 3rd party games don't use it much.

Nintendo is trying hard to be unique, they have their family market and want to make it cost accessible to them whilst still staying in competition with microsoft and sony so they try to make things interesting. If the Wii U flopped aswell i imagine theyd simply invest their money making a console similar to their competition and putting emphasis on their established brands.

I think Nintendo have a few lives left before they call it quits.

I was pretty much using the fast food analogy simply because you were boasting about the money aspect of Nintendo for a moment. I was simply implying that quantity has nothing to do with quality. When you use a broad phrase like "Nintendo is big", that could have multiple interpretations behind it. In what way is it big? "Big" could be interpreted as either size, popularity, money or success. I was saying you're hypocrite to your own words because it sounded like you were implying all people are completely ignorant of Nintendo's success...myself included.

Ok let me get this clear.

I would never assume the Wii U would kill Nintendo, I don't see this alone being possible, I never said that in my OP, you've drawn a conclusion here based on non-existent points.

'I' merely wish to see an end to Nintendo's consoles, either as they are (and were, see GameCube) or will become based on media predictions of low specifications and so forth - If the Wii U is an awesome, truely next generation console with all the features you could ever want, being able to play the latest direct X 11 games at maximum settings and being able to last for 5 years then fantastic, otherwise, I want them to stop making crap consoles.

Understood?

Nope, as you have never said why you want it to fail? You could always just not buy one. Why does it not have to exist? Why wish others were not allowed to enjoy it?

We must'nt even be on the same wave length here...

I want Nintendo to do one of the following.

A. Produce a GOOD console, with good launch titles, 1st and 3rd party, with access to all the tripple AAAs and others Sony and Microsoft enjoy.

or

B. Make this console, have it flop, then either.

B i. Proceed to A.
or
B ii. Discontinue making consoles, and make games for the other consoles and/or PC.

I do not want, if B were the case for a

B iii. Death of Nintendo resulting from epic gaming failure.

thats good and all but if I cant play the latest assasins creed game,Bioware game or Dead space 4 then thats a problem
If that's the type of game you enjoy, why on earth would you get a console?

Those all come out for PC. Consoles aren't for wRPGs and FPS games. Heck, if a game is multiplatform, always get the PC version. I follow consoles because I don't as much care for most multiplatform titles. Heck, I wouldn't have bought %90 of the games in my Steam library if they were only for a console, they're only there because they're the limit of Steam's selection and because they costed like $3. I don't even understand the point of getting them for the console.

And yes, the Wii U will have plenty of third party support.

Heck, people don't somehow realize it, but the Wii itself had plenty of awesome third party games.
I know for me at least I don't play games on my computer and I never will. If consoles go out all together I likely will stop playing video games. If I started playing games on my computer I would never get any work done.
