there have been lots of borderlands threads since it came out and as i have got it i think it is a good game but do u think it will last with games like CoD moden warfare 2 and L4D2 or even assassin's creed 2, or do you think the game will stay and compete for a long time at the top and live for a long time

I think that it'll last if Gearbox can get some DLC out. I wouldn't be massively surprised to see Zombie Island of Dr. Ned come out the same day as Left 4 Dead 2.

Actually, that could be a great marketing strategy - bring out a DLC lampooning big video games around the time they're released, it could keep it fresh and maintain it's stylised sillyness at the same time.

Well, I'll still be playing it. Really don't have any interest in MWII, Assassin's Creed II, and only marginally care about L4D2. Can't be the only one.

That's a fantastic idea.
I'd like to see some diversity in enemies in future DLC, though, the same old things remodeled into bigger and badder worked, but I feel bored on the later playthroughs. I think with these two ideas, I'll enjoy this game for the years to come.

also i think it would depend on the dlc if it was DLC like shriving isle then this game could last a while but if it just like couple more missions then i dont think it would last then.

Time played: 4 days '3:23:27:56' (After 10 days of the game being released)
1000 GP
Proficiency 50's: 7
Cash: Around.. 27,000,000
And some retarded weapons later and I can honestly say, my friends are the only real way for me to have much fun in this game anymore.. It's awesome, but if I don't stop myself I just spend the time grinding for challenges and loot now that there isn't anything left to do. I've boosted like... 8 different people to lvl 50's in hours each and found as good a group of guns as I can ever need.. It's fun enough to play as much as I have, but at this point, I think I should be giving it a good long dead break.
Games like this should be a tradition, commonplace in the gaming community after how much fun this was. But I can't.. fathom doing that campaign again. It'll kill me to repeat the same crap anymore... Maybe.. just a little more time to get the 'Dominating Species' challenge.... 200 kills to go...

Cheers :) I actually got so into it that I've posted it on the official forums [http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showpost.php?p=1608690&postcount=292]. Here's hoping they like it :D

I'll definitely be shelving it for MW2 for at least a few weeks, but yea, I think it might last after the initial rush with MW2 dies down.

Absolutely.

I've got four characters in various levels and I've barely even touched on the co-op yet.

I only had two criticisms of the entire game: Getitng stuck on scenery and a crappy ending.

This game is wonderful and deserves to be played for a long time.

No you aren't. Although Magna Carta 2 and Dragon Age Origins are right up there in my list. And unfortunately this Magna addiction has overtaken me. But I must play Borderlands (spent too damn long trying to find a copy).

I will be playing Borderlands until MW2 comes out. then back to Borderlands as soon as i finish MW2 2 days later, lol.

I absolutely love Borderlands, and i think it can stay alive for a bit with DLC (and if they can manage to fix all the bugs). I don't think it will die, but i expect to see a HUGE drop in the community with so many other great titles on the way.

More and more people will pick it up and realise its a contender for GOTY. I honestly think that it can hold its own against the big games coming out soon.

Actually, the long-term appeal of Borderlands is one part of the game I worry about. It's an awesome game at first (I've been playing it almost as much as I can since the day I bought it), but I'm not sure it has the kind of replayability games like TF2 (or L4D or CoD or whatever) have. I can imagine that as soon as I have completed the game, did all the sidequests, found some kickass unique guns, reached level 50 with my main character and a high level with the three others, there'll be not so much reason to keep playing anymore. Sure, it's a great coop experience, but I just think fighting the same kinds of enemies over and over again will get boring eventually. Not anytime soon, mind you, I'm quite sure I'll still be playing Borderlands enthusiastically a month from now. But three months from now? Unlikely.

The ending's great! It's the perfect end!

You didn't really think they were going to let you get into the Vault, did you?

Reading about it, I think it will, given it isnt really the same type of game as MW2, L4D2 and certainly not AC2, this is a big game set around collecting loot, a D2 shooter, MW2 on the other hand is a regular shooter and l4d2 is zombie fun.

Well personally I don't care about Modern Warfare 2 or Left 4 Dead 2. I'm looking forward to Assassin's Creed 2 but between it, Borderlands, Dragon Age: Origins and Brutal Legend I'm gonna be kept busy for quite a while.

Right now a number of my friends are playing Borderlands, but once Left 4 Dead 2 releases, Borderlands will go quietly into the night. I know they'll all drop it for more zombie awesomeness.

I hope so...one of those threads you're talking about was mine, and I'm still really holding out hope for it. But the fact that it's entirely in first person is disheartening.
