With the release of Portal 2 coming up, I found myself wondering if there would really be cake. The metaphysical pastry that haunted us through the first one, will it make an appearance, now that we know that the cake was a lie? Share your thoughts!

The cake is never a lie... You just gotta look hard enough! ^_^

I don't think there will be a PHYSICAL cake to speak of, although if there's another ending sone like 'Still Alive', then that's sweet enough for me :)

I think they mentioend they'd like to avoid the meme this time.

But when they did say that I came up with a joke.

Something along the lines of "If they promised cake in the first one, and won't have it in the second, doesn't that still mean the cake is a lie?"

No. They've already said there won't be. Thank god.
Hopefully this means that such a stupid "joke" (if you can even call it that) will end and I'll never have to see a reference to it again.

The writer of Portal actually came out to say that he's sick and tired of people constantly saying 'the cake is a lie' and he never intended for it to explode on that kind of scale. He then went on to say that there's no cake in Portal 2 and people should move on from making the joke.

If you play MMOs, you're bound to see a moron in one of the bigger chats spouting it off once in a while. It's sort of like the "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND" thing that's been done to death and is still being used by people. Ugh.
Always true, there will always be a few people who don't let something die. It's sad, really.

No cake in the game I bet. But forget about virtual non-existent cakes and bake a nice chocolate cake and eat it while playing Portal 2 and shout onto the screen: "This cake isn't a lie !!!"

Hopefully. When the writers are sick of it, you know something's got to die.

The cube isn't coming back, either :D

... and why the hell is the pi symbol on my Captcha? -refreshes-

The freshmen at my school are really into "The game" now, because one of my friends brought it up, and told a freshmen. Who in turn, told his friends who told theirs, et cetera. So i'm not really suprised about the cake being a lie still being relevant.

People bitching about the cake is a lie is just as old and just as annoying as the joke itself. Everyone just leave everyone alone

It was funny?

OT: NO. There will be no cake, the writers said that there won't be as an attempt to destroy this joke once and for all! And God bless them for it.
