Not anytime soon. Will wait for the inevitable "Special" or "Game of the Year" edition that includes all the DLC. And then I'll wait till the price drops on that.

I liked Dragon Age a lot, but I am skeptical about the changes they're making in the sequel (I can understand why they'd want to change the combat and I'm fine with that, but giving the character a voice and a name and including a Mass Effect style dialog wheel is something I just can't accept, that's going too far).

I played the demo on the PC. I didn't like the fact there was no official controller support, so I won't be buying it. I just got Assassin's Creed 2 for my PC instead.

Bioware = day one purchase for me, loved the original and most of their other games so I'll probably will love this one as well. Hell .. the only other studio that gets a first day purchase from me is obsidian .. maybe atlus if they ever release persona 5, that might actually make me buy a ps3 as well if it's on the ps3

Played the demo an liked it, people complained that it isn't like the original and that it's derpified, there are some questionable changes I agree but really the only ones I have a real problem with is the camera zoom being considerably lower and the lack of spell combination (at least in the demo) the rest is pretty much the same with small changes here and there like the dialog being more like in ME.

The combat is more or less the same, changes are minor and they have to do more with the abilities then anything else, you can still play tactically and it is advised, the only major problem is the camera zoom being too low.

I don't see how main character being voice acted is that bad and it's only the family name that is set you choose your own name, not that diferent from the original really if I remember corectly ..

Well, there aren't chest high walls everywhere within 5 miles of somewhere that could have a gunfight happen one day, if that's what you mean. It uses the good guy neutral jerkface dialogue circle with over to the left being asking for more info like Mass Effect now though. It's not really that much more different than it was before, it's just not in a list anymore. Also i guess technically the whole being limited to a human male/female character is kinda Mass Effectish.

But yeah, people aren't going around ducking behind chest high walls and shooting off spells and arrows around corners or regenerating health and whatever in the world would be the equivalent of a kinetic barrier.

Though I have to admit that it was nice to see Flemeth in the demo. (And comparing her from the first game, she must be one hell of a shape-shifter.)

It doesn't really have spoilers. It cuts to a couple of bits in the game without context to let you try out different kinds of combat with different level characters.

I wouldn't say it's 'mass effect'ified. Character development is a bit simpler but with no redundant choices and much better balance - everything feels powerful and like you'd legitimately want to use it, which as I said in another post could actually lead to more genuine choice going on rather than being compelled to select a bunch of no-brainers and never using anything else.

The game is still very much an RPG though. You click on people to initiate combat (at least in the PC version) and wear down their health meters using abilities you select from the bar below. There is healing (although it's been tailored a bit so you can't just pick one or two spells and expect to be a full on healing character), tanking, backstabbing and all the other things you'd expect. The system feels streamlined but not substantially different.

Not necessarily. While most of the dialogue choices in the game seemed to come in batches of 3, there were a wide range of icons attached to each choice meaning different things. It wasn't just 'paragon, neutral, renegade'.

Loved Dragon Age: Origins (to my complete surprise, it was one of the very first Western RPG's I enjoyed) and just got off the demo for DA2 about 10 minutes ago.

There are only two problems with the changes for me.

1. The text is SMALL. Like, Dead Rising small. And for a wordy game, it's very hard to read it. I hope they make it larger.

2. I have to play it at Pal 50, because if played at Pal 60 it's so dark I can't see what the f*ck is going on. This is down to my TV though, despite being a modern flat screen it's a terrible television.
The change from Pal 60 to 50 may also have changed the ability to read the text, though for some reason it makes things generally a lot sharper and brighter in other games, helping the contrast between text and background; not blurring it.

Probably after I'm done with my other games. I pre-ordered Fallout New Vegas and Civilization V last year, but I haven't played them nearly enough. I've also got a bunch of other games to play already, thanks to Steam's sales.

I got the DA2 demo to try out now if I'll ever get it (I really liked DA:O), but the main reason for me not pre-ordering DA2 (apart from other games and anyways not having time to play it), is because I do not want the items gifted for pre-purchase.

I'm with you on this. I paid a lot on day one for the collector's edition for the first one and I really enjoyed it, but I have two 360s and so I like to be able to play all the content on whichever system I'm with at the moment.

paid in full already for my fancypants edition. they should just start calling the better version fancypants edition for everything. why? because you want something fancy and most of us wear pants(I apologize to all non pants wearing people. I'm sure you're all very nice pantsless people, and I respect your choice). after playing the demo I want it more. I guess it was a good demo for that but not letting me dick around in the inventory made me cry a little bit. only another week. a week full of classes and work will probably take my mind off of it though.

I played the demo and can't wait. I hated the combat of DA:O but the story kept me playing. From what I've seen in the demo and they seem to have improved the combat (imo of course) so I'm super excited now =D

IT'S FLEMETH! EEEEEEEK!!!

I've been a HUGE fan of BW since Baldur's Gate and Planescape days. I think I've bought every RPG BW has ever made. I pre-purchased the Origins, which I loved to death, but then they started to crank out sub-bar DLC's (Witch Hunt was supposed to be awful). So I decided to wait for the GOTY edition. GOTY edition has been sitting on my desk for few months and I think I'm gonna play that (and Witcher 2, and MassE 3) while I wait for DA2 GOTY.

And the guy asking for controller support - LOL. You should be ashamed.

Couldn't like DA:O, though i wanted to. I'm hopeful for the second. If certain things are truly improved, then i might buy it half a year down the line. On the other hand, maybe the story just isn't for me. Standard Fantasy Setting is really an abomination, almost an oxymoron. More High Fantasy please!

I didn't like the first one very much, mainly because I hated that your character didn't talk a la KOTOR. But I like ME 2 way more than the original so I'll wait for the reviews and maybe pick it up, maybe.

Pre-ordered. And as many have said in this thread: Bioware is not for everyone. I personally love their games. I just hope that Bioware makes better DLC for the game than for DA:O. Most of them just sucked...
