I've decided to boycot all future games made by Crytec. Their unrealisticly high system requirements have made me upgrade and fiddle with my PC to try to make their games play smoothly for the last time. I did it with Crysis and Far Cry, but never again. I never did get either of those two games to play as smoothly as they are supposed to without turning down the graphics settings. Their games are notorious for bringing even the really expensive gaming rigs to their knees. How pointless. A shooter game is a shooter game and doesn't need graphics that stinking complex to be a good game.
Its actuly made by Ubisoft with the dunia engine,
there is actuly no reason at all to name it far cry2, completely differant story line, differant place and differant engine.
but what the hell right? it looks awesome
Thanks for the info. But, you know what I mean though right? All those games with "cry" in the title suffer from requiring major upgrades just to make them play half-way decently.

I'm not a big fan of most Ubisoft games either. I've traded in or given away every UbiSoft game I've ever bought.

Since I won't give a *CENSORED*-lynching fcuk about FarCry 2, I was merely talking technicalities and comfort of DIY computer maintenance, most of the time it's easier than you think...

Anyway if my PC can run it, maybe I'll "get" it, but I highly doubt I'd churn out the money on my 360, or maybe for 5 bucks discount clearance like I got FarCry Instincts on XBox, which in fact I like a lot less than 007 Agent Under Fire and Nightfire (you read it right, vaguely par Bond games got me better than FarCry).
You'd be missing out. This is the sequel to the original farcry which was a very good pc fps. Farcry instincts was a very bad 'console version' (not a port) of the game. Even so, this one looks and plays like an entirely different game, it's a wonder they didn't make it a new IP.

Other.

I will most likely, eventually, buy it....but maybe when it's on sale, or become a Platinum Hit.

I really like the idea of the story taking place in the African savanah's and and jungle, and the lush scenery we've seen in screenshots so far. Looks pretty and I'm looking forward to a new environment that hasn't been done to death. I also like the promise of being very open ended and sandbox-ish and in-game maps that don't take you out of the action.

However, as you all know, with the the sheer amount of A-title or promising looking games coming out during these next 2-3 months, it becomes harder and harder to choose which I can spend the $60 on. I'm pretty much already sold on GH:WT, Fallout 3, Fable II...and that's rapidly approaching $200...and with GoW 2 and Lich King around the corner...I gotta make a sacrifice somewhere, and Far Cry 2 may be the one that falls on my alternative list.

So yeah....I'll get it...but when is another matter.

I would buy it, it looks like the best shooter to come out in a long while, very high replay value, great looking gameplay, and solid, if lacking in innovation, storyline buuuuuuutttt...

I crashed my car last week and I have to save my money to get a new one since my job and university depend upon it. ARGH! Worst time for a gamer to have to save money with Fable 3 yesterday and Far Cry yesterday, and Fallout 3 dropping next week.

Maybe so... I'll have a look at the original for PC someday maybe, but anyway I couldn't be arsed to have 8Gb of disk space to install a single game...
