Why would you be mildly annoyed if they turned your radio down if you were gone for over and hour and not listening to it anyhow? Just out of curiosity.Jodah said:No more than them asking me to turn it down while I am at the desk. Its mildly annoying but I'm not gunna shoot up the place for it.
read the thread, it has been answered more than once to whyKnusper said:It certainly wouldn't bother me - they are there to work after all, and should be allowed to do so in the best working environment that can be offered. I only wonder why OP asks.
Not to mention the fact that in a workspace there are probably going to be some people with differing music tastes. Having the radio on in the first place would be kinda inconsiderate, when everyone seems to have an iPod or MP3 or whatever that would do instead.bdcjacko said:The question is if you aren't around and they turned it off. However it's my stuff and messing with it without my permission would bother me a bit. It shows a total lack of respect for my person and my things.
Still like I said, if they asked, no problem. They could even ask to change it to station we can all enjoy, or to use it when I am not around. Wouldn't bother me at all.
Its one of those "Don't touch my stuff!!! Okay...whatever, I'm over it." I assume I didn't just turn it on and then instantly leave.bdcjacko said:How can they ask you if you aren't there?Chairman Miaow said:It would only bother me because they didn't have the levels of maturity needed to just ask me to turn it down/off.
That is understandable but you would let it ruin your day.Jodah said:Its one of those "Don't touch my stuff!!! Okay...whatever, I'm over it." No, the point isn't when you turned it on. It is that you left it on for whatever reason when you left and someone turned it off while you were unreachable.Chairman Miaow said:I assume I didn't just turn it on and then instantly leave.bdcjacko said:How can they ask you if you aren't there?Chairman Miaow said:It would only bother me because they didn't have the levels of maturity needed to just ask me to turn it down/off.
The question is if I leave and they turned it down. That means we were both there before I left, meaning they could have simply asked for it to be turned down while I was there.bdcjacko said:The question is if you aren't around and they turned it off. No, you aren't following. For whatever reason you left before you could be asked and the radio was on. You didn't announce you were leaving, and the other person didn't notice right away because they were working or maybe there is a divider between your desks but otherwise still in the same room. You have been gone for an extended period of time, not just to the restroom, supply room, meeting with your boss. You have left the building. So you radio or whatever you were listening to is turned down or off by the time you get back. That is the scenario at hand. The question is, does it bother you that it was turned off while you were gone?mjc0961 said:I would find it a bit rude that they would wait until I get up to go to the bathroom or wherever to turn it down on me (I have to assume I would be returning quickly, otherwise I would have turned it off before leaving) instead of just coming over and saying "Hey, that's a bit loud, can you turn it down a little please?" while I was there. After all, I can't know it's too loud for other people if they don't tell me that it's too loud. But it wouldn't bother me enough to start anything over it. I'd just turn it back up if they put it down too low.
(So my vote is "Kinda, but I'm over it")

Not for nothing, but this was supposing you were in the same room and had no door block entrance to your desk. Now if you had your music up so loud that it could be heard behind a closed door in a work environment, that is another can of worms.MasterOfWorlds said:I wouldn't mind unless they either changed the channel or actually had to go into my office to turn it down. If the door was open, sure, go for it if it's bothering you that much, but if the door is shut, I don't want anyone in there.
