Poll: would pokemon survive?

Do you think the pokemon T.V. show survive if Ash dumped Pikachu after like the first season or week? I know in one episode ash dumps pikachu. But then ash comes crawling back to pikachu. But in this case I mean foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Many other pokemon could of been used in the beginning, it just happened that pickachu was given the limelight and has never stepped put of it even if there are other good or better pokemon that could take it's place

Well, Jigglypuff got included in SSB because it was the most popular pokemon in Japan, so it depends if you mean killing Pikachu off now or doing it at the beginning of the series.

Since the series is marketed at kids, they wanted a pet to go with the main character and having him choose one of the starter pokemon would have caused a lot of grief for the people who played the first generation of games. I know that in the games pikachu is kind of crappy, but they are still given away for events.

Does anyone else notice that Pokemon was (is?) a cartoon about people poaching small woodland creatures, keeping them in tiny metal balls & forcing them to fight each other in arenas?
