Poll: Would you be a hero?

Here's a question. If you had the chance to save the world. Let's say that some evil force from outside our universe came and you were the only person who could save the world. Would you do it? Why or why not? Would you do it happily or would you grumble about it?

I personally would, but barely. To be honest, it'd take a lot of goading to do it. It sounds jerk-a**ish, but I can't help but have nothing but disdain for 99% of the world nowadays. Sure, it's generalized, but after everything I've seen and heard in my 22 years on this earth, I can't help but feel a generalized hatred of just about everything.

Oh, I hear you.

I personally think that the world in general is big ole pile of suck...

But that's only in general.

If it came down to it, you're not saving it for the assholes, the cowards, the greedy or the exploiters.

You're saving it for the people you love, the ones who've shown you random acts of kindness, the people who gave you directions when lost, the ones who just gave a nice smile at an unexpected moment.

I've been feeling pretty misanthropic of late myself, but a good friend pointed out that the world doesn't have a vendetta against you personally, no matter what it seems like.
I have a dim view of human nature usually, but I find that for every prick and asshole out there, there's someone who's worth their weight in gold.

I'd save it for them.

I've had a feeling to go on an epic quest around the world with a rag-tag group of friends to protect the world as we know it. We would go around, preforming good deeds and self-realizing tasks as we fought evil entities from domestic and afar. Yeah, it's technically insane to believe you'll one day advert a disaster, or calm a large debate, but it's really not impossible.

Of course, appeal to my self-interest enough and I might consider it, at least long enough to reject it only somewhat offhand.

As much as I rant about humanity's overall lameness and how many people don't even merit the right to their existence, yes, I'd save the world. It is my home after all.

If I was the only person who could do it then of course I would, I live on the world. But if I was simply chosen from a list of potential people and asked to do it I would probably pass at the chance because my sense of self-preservation is too high. However, you did not specify what saving the world would require me to do, so if I was guaranteed to survive with no risks then I would.

If it was as easy as "okay, I'll do it", and it's done, then sure I'd do it.

Somehow, I doubt it would be that easy. Instead, I'd probably have to exert a lot of effort, and would likely die in the process.

I have this idea in my head called selective saving.....idea being that If I don't like a country/region or group of people in that country/region for a reason of my own choosing(ethnicity, their leader, religion, personal indifference, really good reason or really bad reason) then I let them fry. Take for example France on the day when I'm called to save us all I may decide I hate french people so if this outside force is about to annihilate just France I may say fuck it and let them die. But the rest of the world I do save....they can't get mad cause thier dead and the rest of the worlds nations can't be pissed cause I coulda let them be pounded into oblivion.

Now if its the whole world at once on the other hand I think I would save us all even the bastards that I despise, but make sure they know worlds savior has no love for them. And also I'd think that being a hero the world over would have some insanely awesome rewards(name rememebered forever, shit tons of cash, property and other stuff just being given to me and oooh the women the hot ones would want some of me thats for damn sure and the fact that they'd most likel know my name would be even more awesome. I'd never be at alack when it came to female company)
