I was playing games that had no multiplayer for years as a kid. Sure, multiplayer was pretty fun with mates, and online if you don't find a bunch of 13 year old fuckwads. But the story, universe and characters is why I play video games. Sure, there are games like Counter Strike and TF2 with nothing but multiplayer....but I don't have those for that very reason.

Team Fortress 2. Borderlands. Left 4 Dead. Shadowrun (I warn you, I will beat any Shadowrun nay-sayers with a raw Salmon. Dont be talkin' bad about my baby)

I dont care what any reviewer has to say. "A game should be able to stand alone on single player"... I add to that "if it was designed to be Single Player oriented"

Some games are designed with the Multiplayer aspect in mind, not the single player. While good stories are always fun to listen to, sometimes I just want some good gameplay with a few friends. That so much to ask for?

If your going to build on the multiplayer, I say, stop bull#$^^ing us and just make it multiplayer only. If your going to half@$$ the single player, don't even bother! If your going to make a game that is based only around the single player (I am looking at you Darkness), don't staple on a multiplayer either. Go one way or the other, unless your going to COMPLETELY comnint to both.
I was discussing this with my friend the other day and I agree with you exactly. There have been a couple of games that I think are able to balance the two quite well, such as the newer game red dead redemption. I also said alot of games become no-name, hardly memorable titles by tacking on a mediocre mode to go along with the mode intended for most play. That really just takes away from what could have gone onto the original mode. Games become successes by going to one side of the scale or the other, or evening them both out equally.

Not a chance. I tried Warhawk and frankly, that's one of the worst games I've ever played.

However, I don't mind if the campaign is crap and the multiplayer is good. But there are no games I would purchase solely for the MP. While I enjoy it, I don't find it as satisfying.

Yes, and I have. Bad Company 2.

Have I completed even half the singleplayer?... Lets just put it this way.. No, I have not.

The singleplayer to me was horrific and after the third level, I just thought "I could be having so much more fun with the multiplayer" and I never returned to play any more singleplayer.
