It would be like Intel taking up Rocketry.
Intel is a very big company that makes lots of stuff, but never has made rocket engines or turbines before, and the switch would be quite large.
Likewise, Valve has made lots of great software and games before, but has never made game hardware before.

It's not to say they would necessarily be bad, it would be just the first time they ever took it up.

They could call it the Steam Box or the Boiler, and yes I would. Just a console'd version of Steam would do for me.

It's called a PC.
You're kidding right? You do know that "console" refers to those things you hook up to your tv?
You're kidding right? Ever heard of a PSP?

Considering "Valve Time" I'd probably be dead or close to it by the time one was actually released.
Would they even exist at the time of release?

Entirely based upon the merits of the console. I wouldn't buy anything just because of who made it....

Eh, it's gotta be better than the shit we have now.

Microsoft needlessly charge extra for everything. Sony can't keep a secure network. Nintendo are the new Fisher Price.

I've given up on console gaming. I'm terrible with a controller, and the television screen is always way too bloom-happy compared to my computer monitor.

So yeah...I wouldn't buy it. Heck, I'm thinking of selling my XBox 360 just so I can get s'more money for Skyrim for the PC.

I'll keep buying anything from Valve until I buy something I don't like, and so far that hasn't happened.

It'd probably take them a year to release the controllers while they spend their time updating the console.

Not on it being "Valve" alone. They are just another developer, period. Depends on what the console offers.

extremely unlikely scenario

Valve make a fuckton of money from Steam, but you need M$ amounts to get started in console development at this point.

No. Not probably no, definitely no. They're a software company not a hardware company, I wouldn't even consider swapping a Sony product for a Valve product unless I'd heard a lot of recommendations and objective reviews.

You know to be fair Microsoft aren't being that greedy, it's annoying they actually stop people putting things on their store for free but it's business, you have to make your money somehow and Valve would too. If any of the hackers who targetted Sony had targetted Microsoft or Nintendo instead do you really think the results would have been any different? Cause they wouldn't have been, they'd have got through either of the other two's security if they were the targets. And Nintendo games are fun, simple as that.

Maybe (explain)

While I have the upmost faith in Valve as a company creating/producing computer games this is not a strong enough argument to buy a console made by them (Nintendo as a compny are very good at creating/producing computer games I don't feel I would use a Wii enough to buy one). It would depend on the spec it being out a year or two and its success its third party as well as first party games and what the competittion was like at the time.

In bazaro world were this even might actually have a possibility of taking place. Depends, I?d have to see how it turns out and what third parties actually want to develop games for it.

You do know that "UI" means "User Interface", and thus you just said "User Interface interface"?
Yes. Yes I do. I simply repeated it for emphasis. Kind of like Josh on that Nick show, Drake and Josh. He also repeats words for emphasis. Emphasis!
