If it's not mine, I always give it back or hand it to someone who has authority who will then probably nick it for themselves.

Me? I'd've done the simplest thing. Started calling some of the numbers on the list to see who else is in the area to come and pick up this phone at such-and-so a location. True, I said I'd goo looking, but making them come to you is alot easier. Did this with a girl's laptop once.

She's spoiled. She also plays sports. I'm the gamer who barely sees the light of day. If I didn't help her right there, for the next 5 days she would have broken my phone, ipod and thumbs. In that order.

No excuse. If you don't stand up to a bully they will continue to exercise power. There is only one way to deal with this situation and that is to let her know that her behaviour is unacceptable, and stick up for yourself. Anything else is weaksauce.

Well that's kinda hard cuz one time I beat her at a game of soccer (her sport) and she proceeded to break my nose.
I have NO respect for her, only fear.

i'd have looked for her. I mean if i lost my phone i'd be screwed, all my contacts and lots of very important sentimental stuff is on there, that i couldn't replace.

What if some of the stuff that has been deleted IS the reason they are so desperate to get the phone back?

OT: To be honest I probably would have given a good tongue lashing at your cousin, taken the phone. Tried to get in touch with the owner. Given it back, if they ask, say that you found it that way. Take the abuse from your cousin knowing that somebody else isnt suffering for your mistake. Also think if you really needed something and were depending on the kindness of a stranger for you to get it back, and you didnt. "Do unto your neighbor as you would have them do unto you" good quote if used properly.

I've found a few phones and blackberries in my time wandering the streets at night. Same routine every time: call 611, "I found the phone I am now using in the gutter. Where do you want it?" Return to store they tell me to and they notify the owner. Quick and easy, and no having to track down the person it belongs to.

Exactly what I would do, or if I have no means of calling the police. Then I'll just drop it of at the nearest lost and found.

Strange, after my cousin got in trouble (different reason) my mom bought me the T-mobile Blackberry, only after my phone was STOLEN. Kharma for real

Doesn't matter. Do you want to be bullied by her for the rest of her life? Of course not. Then stick up for yourself, no matter what. No matter how many times you get your nose broken. Hell, even if she pulls a knife or a gun. The only way to win against bullies is to remain steadfast, and let them know that no matter what they do, they are never, ever the boss just because they push you around.

Imagine if you, one day, have a loved one you can't locate because some kid and her spineless accomplice decided to not return a phone. Or maybe you couldn't imagine that because you're far too selfish to consider other people.

I HARDLY see her. After the nose incident were on "Christmas only, stay one room away from each other" terms. She came with us on the trip because apparently I needed someone to talk to my age and my mom got over her violent tendencies.
Plus before we dropped her off I gave her a "gift" so whenever she sees that scar she'll remember how horrible she acted.

Honestly, that was a really greedy/bitchy move on cousin's part. I would taken it to lost and found or something. What if it was your cousin's phone? If they dropped it would they want someone taking it, deleted everything, and destroying it?
