Poll: Would you like to see Yathzee try something new and stop doing ZP?

I have gotten tired of the Zero Punctuation feature really. I have been tired of it for some time, but I kept checking up on it weekly because it was kind of a habit. I can't remember the last time I really laughed at one videos though. And recently it seems Yathzee is getting tired of doing the same thing every week as well.

Keep in mind that i'm not saying that I know this for a fact, but him talking how he needs a break in his last review and the way he ended his last extra punctuation feature does give that impression.

I think the guy just needs a different formula to change things up, because this particular method of entertaining and expressing seems to have worn out it's welcome, at least in my eyes.

I was very disappointed with the iPhone one. I play REAL games and I was expecting a review of a REAL game. That said I still enjoy watching the normal reviews.

Yeah it'd be really cool if he wrote a novel or something maybe!
Or even made a whole website full of fun stuff to look at and read!

Someone should suggest it to him.

He recently wrote a book (really funny too) and he opened a pub called the Mana Bar. So yeah...Yahtzee does a lot more than Zero Punctuation.

What would you rather have him do instead? ZP is his actual job now. That'd be like walking up to a McDonalds employee and saying "I'm tired of your greasy cheeseburgers. You should do something different"

Even if that made an impact the best you can hope for is they'd go work at Burger King instead or something.

Look, not to seem rude, but... that's a pretty uninformed opinion to have. iPhone games are no less 'real' for their apparent simplicity, and in fact often have some very deep and innovative concepts behind them. Just because you like to play REAL games (which I assume means cookie-cutter FPSs or action games) doesn't make any other kind of game any less valid. Besides, teams of very talented people work hard to put these well-crafted games onto the market, so for you to dismiss them so thoughtlessly is rather cruel and heartless. I'm sorry if this seems like flaming, I'm not trying to be rude, but I strongly disagree with your point of view.

OT: Yahtzee does plenty of other stuff, and he doesn't strike me as the kind of person who'll keep doing stuff just because his fans want him to. At the end of the day, he'll do Zero Punctuation until such a time as it no longer appeals to him, and then he'll move on. Also, if you're tired of ZP, find something else to watch--there are plenty of other ways to spend 5 minutes.

All the latest ZP's have been so stale compared to the older ones.

They are real games. In what way are they less real than pac man or asteroids?
Same way casual games aren't real games!

There isn't a difference, it's gamer snobbery

I think they're great, I don't know what you're expecting but you have to realize that his job isn't to be entertaining it's to REVIEW the game. You have to appreciate what he says about the game not just if it makes you giggle.

Personally I find his reviews refreshing all the time because it's better than listening to the dribble on the likes on IGN and so on.

I disagree there. Yahtzee is a critic, yes. But the way I see it, Yahtzee reviews games the same way that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert deliver news. They cover real news stories and mention real events, but you can't argue that at least 80% of the show is to entertain.

You havent seen the articles he does on Tuesdays. Extra Punctuation?

Besides, why couldnt he do more with ZP? Moviebob does the Big picture AND Escape to the Movies. Paul and Graham do RLR, Unskippables, Daily Drop, ENN, AND Lets Play.

I don't know what Yahtzee's contract says, but I don't think ZP is primarily a reviewing feature-- ZP seems to be primarily a comedic venture that also says real things about games, not a review series that is also funny.

To entertain is a certain percentage yes, but that's for the sake of a bigger demographic.

If he just reviewed it without swearing and so on people would be put off by the dryness of his humour. Maybe I'm wrong I don't but its an opinion (oh did he go there); He reviews things in a sarcastic way and explains his reasoning through humour (to a certain degree).

I just didn't think it was fair for this guy to start going on about how Yatzee isn't funny anymore etc when it's not his job to be making you giggle it is to give you an opinion about a game. That's why it's called a game review...I'm not being condescending to anyone like, I just don't get why that's hard to get o_O

I don't think ZP is played out. Some episodes are better than others, like everything else, but I usually get at least one big laugh a week, which is more than I can say for most 'funny' vids online.

The first page/most recent of the episodes has Amnesia - which was good enough to convince me to buy the game, and Kane and Lynch 2 - which is right up there with the funniest, and most vitriolic episodes he's ever done.
